Cammalleri is a healthy scratch for NJ today. 30 points in 51 games, currently in a cold streak goal-wise.
I'd love Cammy back on this team if NJ retained salary. His sniping ability really is a skill that we don't have on the team.
Cammy has a Cap hit of 5mil till the end of the 2018-19 season, he's currently 34 and will be 35 in June. I like Cammy but unless half of his salary is retained I wouldn't touch this with a 20 foot pole.
He also has a NTC.

Trading a franchise forward for another franchise forward is hardly stupid, nor ridiculous.
Considering all the stupid lopsided trade scenarious brought up here, Gaudreau + for Barkov is actually shockingly reasonable, not that it has any chance of happening.

Curious if #Oilers will grab Ty Rattie off waivers. Believe EDM put in a claim for him in Jan. Only thing is Slepyshev has come up since.

It absolutely is in this case. So you trade Gaudreau for Barkov. Now up the middle you have Barkov, Monahan, Backlund, Bennett, Stajan, with Janko waiting on deck. On LW you have Tkachuk and absolutely nothing. In what world does that make sense at all?

It allows you to move Bennett to the wing where he's actually been productive at the NHL level. Barkov adds size, physicality and a 200ft game. After next season Backlund is likely outside of our price point so it allows you to play Janko in a 3rd line C role while he matures to the nhl game. Gaudreau may return to form and he may not, there are indicators of problems and his size is still a concern at the NHL level. He has shown this year that he can be intimidated by larger players and is then neutralized. If this deal were to theoretically happen, the Flames get bigger, stronger and deeper at center. You wins cups with Centers and Defense not small one dimensional wingers.

It's totally fine.
Put Bennett on the wing where he's probably better suited anyways.
Stajan is gone in time, no big deal.
Trade Backlund for a scoring winger while his value is at it's peak IF Jankowski turns out as well as we think.
Plus, you have a bit more cap room for UFAs because Barkov actually makes LESS than Gaudreau.
There's plenty of options here, and you have two absolute stud 2-way centers at 1 and 2, something that championship teams are made of.

Come on now, regardless of the fact that this is not going to happen, if you want to win a Cup, you take Barkov over Gaudreau every single time. And you will have to add to Gaudreau.

2) the last time they went to the cup finals was with them
so what exactly is your point?
My point is, the Flyers chances to win Stanley Cups didn't evaporate when they traded Carter and Richards. Losing those two but adding Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, and Couturier is fantastic GM work. There's no other way to put it.
The loss of Chris Pronger forever put Philly's cup hopes on life support. Trading Bobrovsky and signing Bryzgalov put them in the ground.
And if Philly hadn't made the moves they did, they'd have a washed out Mike Richards on their cap until 2019.
That's all I'm saying

Nope, I will pass. We have seen what Johnny can do with better linemates at the WHC, they sky is the limit for him. Barkov has a nice game but he is also often injured and not as skilled. The Flames would be stupid to trade Gaudreau.

His injury history is a fair criticism, but to say he's less skilled is simply false. Barkov is an unreal talent, and he's still only 21 years old.

Lost in the banter, is that Barkov was not the only name mentioned - nor was Gaudreau the other way. Gaudreau, Bennett, Monahan... While it is a trade speculation thread, when people are advocating trading away the core, I can see where it could be perceived as trollish.
