Stole this from Scorp's Twitter but it's an interesting comparison https://x.com/miketgould/status/1736...104601237?s=46

Meier is another guy that went to a new team and has just looked terrible, like even worse than Huberdeau has looked.

In another "trade idea that NHL GMs would never actually make" post but:

Huberdeau: $10.5M
Markstrom: $3.0M ($6.0M w/50% retention)

Total: $13.5M

For

Meier: $8.8M
Palat: $4.5M ($6.0M w/25% retention)

Total: $13.3M

I actually have no doubt that Huberdeau would fit in more with the speedy centers and rush based offense that Hughes, Hischier, and Mercer provide

I actually have a minor pet peeve when fans say "we" like they were on the ice or paid the salary of a player.

"We played so well tonight". I forget, what number were you?

Sometimes it's different - "The refs jobbed us tonight", because maybe they did job the fans too.

Interesting, but that is something Flames fans do. Interesting point though for sure.

Oh, I realize that, it's why I never comment on it when someone does it. I almost never even notice it now, because it's just so commonly done (and petty to mention it).

I only refer to it because I almost never say "we" and therefore I don't see it as a sign of being a Flames fan or not.

When you come down to it, professional sports is show business. We, the audience, are not part of the team, any more than we are part of the cast when we go to see a play or part of the band when we go to see a concert.

Sports fans are considerably less likely to say crazy things when they remember that. I find that calling the team ‘they’ instead of ‘we’ helps me bear this in mind.

What are the rules of a Loan Agreement between the Flames and Admiral Vladivostok? Would there be a Cap penalty?

Yeah things like, "if the refs don't stop doing that I'm going to stop being a Flames fan". Happens a lot after a bad game, comments like "I'm done". I usually don't hang around the games threads much and just enjoy the game, we are going to win some and lose some.

I never said any kind of players to bring in. Just do something to help him so they can take advantage of the big investment

In the words of Hal David:

‘What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow
So for at least until tomorrow
I'll never fall in love again.’

Initially I had the same idea too I'm just not sure that's what the Flames want to do. I could be wrong but they are probably just sitting back waiting to see how things unfold. With some good play from the youngsters I just don't know that they would bring in some specific players for Huberdeau. There's always a chance that it doesn't work and that could set a youth movement back if that's what they want to do. Nothing wrong with your idea though, I think it is a solid idea.

I have no issue with fans using the term “we”. Maybe that helps people remember that pro sports wouldn’t exist without fans. I don’t like when people minimize the importance of the customer to a business.

Oh it's all good, we all have our pet peeves. For me it's "As a Flames" that comes up all the time here, or "games at hand".

I am a customer to a lot of different businesses, but I do not call any of those businesses ‘we’. I want them to give me their goods or services for my money, not adopt me into their families.

When things are going good for the new young guys don't #### with it. Next year let them dictate more of the play then give Huberdeau a run with them. It will be interesting to see what Huberdeau and Pelletier can do also. They seem to be friends. Pelletier is positive vibes.

Conroy showing lots of patience so far. This wouldn't be surprising if this is close to how it unfolds.

If I was GM I’d be looking at players internally and upcoming draft picks that could fill the role instead of outside help. It would make sense to me to watch how Huberty and Pelletier gel once they are playing together again and assess from there.

Kadri was probably the worst Flame last year, and didn't look good until he got the right guys on his line though. Why is it different for Huberdeau. Kadri was absolutely awful last year, and wasn't anything special to start the year. Then he was put with the right guys and is now on our best line. That's what we need. Backlund and Coleman aren't it, and will never be it. At least one of them needs to be replaced on that line.

Mangiapane should go back with Backlund and Coleman, and Huberdeau should go with Sharangovich and Lindholm. At the very least Huberdeau will be able to try and set up a guy with a good shot in Sharangovich.

Kadri was the Flames best player for the first half of last season
