Just so bad from United. Mourinho might survive into next year, but I just can't imagine the fans are all that excited if he does.

This has been one of the most entertaining games I've watched all season. Great drama.

De Gea is an idiot if he doesn't hold out for £500,000 a week. United are nothing without him.

Ouch that hurt. Guy who has probably hit the net with shots 20 times in his entire career pulls an absolute stunner out of his hat to steal points Palace desperately needed and probably deserved.

I know. Palace only had one job! One!

Palace are just having the kind of luck you see on big winless streaks like this. Devastated by injuries, yet still fighting so hard in every game and getting their back broken in the last couple minutes against teams with players making as much as half their team. Same thing happened to them against Spurs last week even later in the game, albeit Spurs at least deserved it.

Benteke scores that header on any other goalie in the league and they go on to win the game. De Gea makes a crazy save then they back off a central defender out in the middle of nowhere and he lashes a ridiculous shot into the corner from a mile out? Sometimes teams feel fated to lose lol.

For a second there I thought Liverpool might finally get a little help, you know, some reciprocation for all of those points we have generously awarded to Crystal Palace over the years.

But no.

It appears that Palace only really like beating Liverpool and are more than content to just hand out points to everyone else.

I hope you bastards rot in Croyden.

They might be my second favorite team, actually. I just like the crazy home support and I think I would watch a game there. It would be a distant second though.

If we didn’t have UAE FC though, the league would be super exciting coming down the stretch. Not only would we have a great run-in for the title, but that relegation race is going to be insane, regardless. We should find a calculator and do some predictions for the final weeks for that because there basically ten teams not far from safety! West Brom is done, but I really don’t know who the other two will wind up being.

Based on my Father-In-Law's depictions of Selhurst Park I'm pretty confident that no, you would indeed not enjoy that.

Hope to be wrong but Palace are going down... right now the injured list for the team is Sakho, Cabaye, Loftus-Cheek, Dann, Wickham, Zaha and a few others. Probably not that impressive a list to you guys who follow the big clubs but those are probably Palace's 6 best players outside of maybe Milojevic in a team with little depth, almost no chance of staying up.

The rich americans who bought into the team have apparently committed the money for the new stand/renos and bringing capacity to 34k even if it's in the championship, and I think that's more important to Palace long term than staying up if that's possible. Selhurst park is atmospheric but a hole and Palace could easily draw much bigger crowds and make a lot more money in the EPL with how big their catchment it. I think they could develop into a mid sized premier league club long term with the right luck and decisions.

But then again look at Sheff Wednesday, Villa and Leeds, size of the fanbase and stadium clearly doesn't mean as much these days.

West Brom are going down too. For me the question mark is the 3rd team.

If I had to pick I'd guess Huddersfield. Crazy that Bournemouth could stay up again, that's like a Div 3 team off the pitch.

I don’t know, maybe I would like it more? I could support Palace for a day against Liverpool, watch the home team pick up a win and have a few pints. Actually, it sounds amazing!!

I’m not going to say I follow them closely, because that’s a lie, but I did realize that they have some big names out. I still think Zaha is a good player and that’s a big loss to them for sure. And some of the others are decent enough. I think they have enough to stay up, but it’s going to be tight.

The new/redone stadium looks like a good plan. That kind of capacity doesn’t seem over the top or anything and should be full.

^^ Hope you're right!

I agree its too bad the title seems so wrapped up. Maybe will try dazn and see if there's another league worth following/that pulls me in down the stretch this year.

If that service had epl streaming it would be a slam dunk, pretty impressive football coverage they are developing.

Selhurst Park is up for a 100m redevelopment which will bring it up to 34k which is as big as they're going to be.

I wouldn't say their catchment is that big. As well as the big clubs, then the big London clubs, they're also close to millwall and fulham. I remember a time when Wimbledon in their day were having larger attendances at SPwhen they were ground sharing.

Villa and Leeds have much higher ceilings.

I don't really know what Palace's ceiling looks like but I think if they ever saw significant investment and consolidated as a mid table premier league side that it would be much larger than millwall or fulham. Even historically they have been bigger than those clubs and were more comparable to Charlton or Watford. Fulham doesn't have much of a natural catchment and when you look at a lot of the more central clubs, they are bound on all sides and often in neighborhoods that are becoming more and more expensive, gentrified and experiencing population decline. QPR is another London club that for me has no room to grow at all.

South London is still pretty working class and palace have no clubs to the south of them at all where London is sprawling out and growing. I think some of the clubs on the fringes have the most potential to grow attendance wise.
http://bigthink.com/strange-maps/496...-map-of-london

That said they need a decent team and facility to attract people.

And no doubt Leeds are a big club, for my money they belong in the premier league. Villa's pretty big too, I have a soft spot for them but they have a lot of competition in Birmingham. Leeds is a one club city. I'd love to see them, Villa, Wednesday and Forest back in the epl... May be nostalgia talking though.

I don't really like the crappy little 2nd and 3rd div clubs like Blackpool Swansea and Bournemouth getting megabucks invested in them and coming up at the expense of seeing games in places like elland road and hillsborough. But I guess to be fair its similar to what I did with York City in championship manager 2002 ha!

Yeah, I just get the feeling that them, Millwall , Charlton etc are pretty much as big as they're going to be fanwise. Once you head out of London support is random.

From a nostalgia viewpoint, I would love to see Wimbledon make it again. The crazy gang was something special. Would love to have seen them up against Pep's city if only to see Vinnie kick Aguero all over the pitch. Forest...yes, Villa....indifferent.

Leeds? No idea what is going on there. They were and still have the potential to be one of the biggest clubs in England. The club that kick started things for Fergie in probably the best PL signing ever. They never recovered from that. United never looked back.

Wimbledon's always been interesting to follow, their rise up the leagues with that crazy gang team and their fan ownership scheme and new stadium stuff more recently after the milton keyes switch. If you just want to see city get a kicking you just need to find a way to arrange a game against a lower league scottish team... Man thats still like 1970s football up there in the lower divs.

Leeds is a mess... The owner is a total nutjob. They are always ok staying in the championship because of their fanbase but the teams getting promoted lately are either recently demoted or clubs that are turbocharged by some billionaire throwing their sweatshop money into their new toy. Those last years in the prem under O'Leary they overspent massively and couldn't climb out of the hole once they went down. Too bad for the prem. Though I have a lot of memories of their fans being real bastards that doesn't exactly make them a sympathy case haha.
