Finally caught a ditto.

Then I threw every single ball I had at a dragonite, but couldn't catch it. I don't suppose there's any use in buying more regular balls to try and catch him?

Not sure if it changed but I've noticed a spawning of Pikachu's at the Sandstone Rink which is a pokestop for the past week and a half.

Bought some balls, ended up throwing about 100 balls at the Dragonite before he ran away.

Finally was getting a hang of throwing the ball far enough after about 80 balls. Razz Berried in between every ball that hit him. Probably should have started with my regular balls first to get a hang of throwning at him before wasting most of my ultra balls on throws that dind't get nearly far enough.

That hurts! Worth catching zubats just because it gives you a chance to get your long throws dialed in. I find curve balls easiest with a fast flick to the upper corner.

Zubats aren't nearly as far away, Golbats might be close. I haven't thrown too much recently at Zubats, becasue I've been constantly short on balls, and I don't really need zubats.

I just happened to have gone through downtown yesterday, which allowed me to collect more than 100 balls, and I still had about 50 left, of which I used all of them throwing at the Dragonite - before I bought more to continue throwing.

I usually switch to AR mode, tilt the top of screen forward, and can hit the far ones almost every time that way. I find it helps anyway. I suck at the real long shots.
Regarding pokeballs, it's a LOT easier to build inventory when you have caught them all (so don't need them!) I was always running short previously too, but now as I generally only catch interesting things, I throw away all regular and great balls and limit ultra balls on hand to less than 600 in a 1000 item bag.

We found a 2km loop fairly close to home that has 30 pokestops on it. The 5 minute slow tour around nets about 100 items per loop. That's probably what helped most. 2 or 3 passes makes a huge difference.

I've always treated potions like you treat balls, throwing out the regular potions and super potions, and now I probably have enough max potions to generally not need any hyper potions.

Jealous of your ball count.

With ditto caught, I have less incentive now to throw balls after pidgeys and ratatta.

Very happy to see Niantic got it right and reverted back to old prestige levels for building up own gyms.
Can get 1000 prestige again by using a set of 6 Pokémon less than 1/2 the size of the ones you are training against.

Caught a dratini- thanks to the in game nearby tracker.

Caught a vulpix to give me enough candies to evolve a Ninetales. Thanks to the PokéTracker app for that one.

That was a good walk to work last night...got the last candy I needed for my buddy Magnemite to be Evolved into a Magneton.

Was close enough to lvl 23 that I was catching the 'useless' pokemon that spawn...and caught my first Ditto off what I thought was a Zubat

Hit lvl 23

Am now 102/121

Question: My Ditto is 158CP. I've not had a chance to fight with him yet, so I'm curious. If I take on a 2500 Snorelax, say...does my Ditto become a 2500 Snorelax, or a 158 Snorelax?

He becomes a 2500 Snorlax with exactly the same moveset.
He will get hit a couple times transforming, but once transformed is good to go. I tried it once, and it didn't go so well. Not sure if Ditto's IVs have anything to do with it, but I expect the higher the better if you have multiple Ditto.

Hmmm. Interesting. Maybe is IV dependant then? Or different between raising prestige or fight other team? I have 8 Ditto, I think. Will do some testing later and share.

Edit: I have a 408 Ditto @ 97.8%, and a bunch of junk ones. Will be able to test enough to figure this out.

Edit #2: Here is how it works, and I think I have this part right. Ditto takes exactly same CP as Pokémon you are facing, but he can get hit 2 times while he morphs. Those hits lower his initial CP, so that can be pretty huge. Example, a 200 CP Ditto who gets hit twice by a 2400 Vaporeon might lose half his CP, so is 1200 CP when finished morphing to Vape.
What I do not know is what their HP is. Not sure how that works. You hit that 2400 CP Vape with his hydropump, and he loses like 30%. Get hit by it from him, who my Ditto is supposed to be a mirror of, and it kills mine dead.
In theory Ditto is excellent. It practice not so much, imo.

Walked 84km in the last few weeks with Grimer and caught last one on my doorstep yesterday so have enough candies for Muk.

Leaving only Chansey from completing my Pokedex. I have managed to save up six 10km eggs since the XP event so hopefully I hatch him when I do those for my next lucky egg. Anything good would be nice as I've only had crap 10km egg hatches so far (Eevee, Jynx and Onyx multiple times).

You can't get Eevee from a 10km egg anymore.
