We could potentially finish 28th. Personally I like that position. Would give us a reasonable chance at a top 3 pick which would be pretty awesome. Start Hiller against the Canucks.

New ISS top 10

http://www.isshockey.com/iss-hockey-...-30-for-april/

1. Matthews - C
2. Puljujarvi - RW
3. Laine - LW
4. Nylander - W
5. Dubois - LW/C
6. Tkachuk - LW
7. Chychrun - D
8. Sergachev - D
9. McLeod - C
10. Juolevi - D

As I've said before I find ISS's rankings quite questionable, they usually have some shady rankings historically.

He did that in case the oilers had interest in him...he's trying to fool them into thinking he isn't as good as Hall so they shouldn't pick him.

Does anyone know if there's consensus on which of the top 6 guys are NHL ready?

Their website uses Comic Sans. Obviously they can't be trusted.

Surprised to hear this name come up. I watch a bunch of Knights, and am shocked to see he's #30. I hope he goes to the Oilers.

Edit: Haha, I get it. Poo.

Maybe not entirely fair for me to think this way, but I while I loved Keith Tkachuk's style of game in his prime, I didn't like his comments back when he was trying to negotiate his contract with the Jets and I would worry that his son might have the same contempt for small market Canadian teams.

He's been playing it all year. More comfortable on his off wing ala Ovechkin. Better shooting angle. Sucks for our RW needs if we land him but having a right shot is still useful even on the off wing.

Could be the Flames taking Pu if the Dallas pick turns into a first.

Not sure where to post this. But i thought of a potentially fun Anti-tank measure.

What if you have the bottom 8 teams go into a bracket style showdown with the winner obtaining first overall, runner-up 2nd etc.

Would only take about 5 days to run the mini-tournament, it would still provide a bottom team the opportunity to play rookies (without being accused of tanking), and it would mean another 1 or 2 home dates for revenue purposes.

He's also been playing on the right point during PPs. Getting him to play RW shouldn't be hard.

A lot depends on their summer, how well their training camp goes, how thin the organization is at that position and what their coach and GM's philosophy on keeping young players is. All that said I'll give my impressions:

Matthews - NHL ready and will make an immediate impact
Laine - NHL ready and likely to make an immediate impact
Puljujarvi - certainly has NHL size and skating. Could see him in the NHL right away or the AHL if he's not quite ready
Tkachuk - plays a pro style game and has NHL size. His skating might need a summer of improvement. Because of his smarts and the fact he already plays an NHL style game I think he could step in
Chychrun - had NHL size, skating and skill. Not sure what more he can learn in junior. I'm guessing some teams would keep him and other teams would send him back
Dubois - has NHL size and speed and plays a fairly pro style of game as well. Not sure he's quite as NHL ready as Tkachuk though. It will probably depend on what team takes him and his role. If a team sees him as a LW then it's easier to break in as a rookie on the wing. If a team wants him at centre perhaps they'd send him back

So much depends on which team takes these guys. For the Flames I think the top 3 and Tkachuk would likely make our team next fall, Dubois would have a chance too.

Interesting to note that Nylander should be AHL eligible ala Julius Honka because he's on loan from Sweden

Notable changes since the last update is that we are now mathematically eliminated from finishing worse than 6th last and almost certain to finish between 4th-6th last. There's a small 8% chance we finish 3rd last. Net result to the draft pick probability is as follows:

(Draft pick odds using Enoch Root's standings-pick percentages combined with sportsclubstats.com's final standings probabilities for each potential Flames remaining record as of today)

Think you need to update your record column. We only have 2 games left which only gives us the same number of possible outcomes(6), but obviously not 3-0-0 or 1-3-0. Good chart though, think between 5th and 7th is our likely drafting spot, not that thats saying much.

So if the flames win their last 2 games... Which I think they will... They will have a 26% chance of drafting in the top 3 and a 55% chance of drafting 5th/6th/7th. Is my math right on that?
