Seems about right.
BTW: can you guys create a city on one server, but then access it from a different server if the first server is full? Ie: Created a city on NAW2 and then try to access it on NAW1?
Was just wondering about that one.
We're almost a week since release.

Nope, servers are independent. It even wants you to replay the tutorial when you start on a server you haven't hit before.

Check page 75 (post 1487) of this thread. I've detailed what I did, and links to use.
Hope that helps.

So contact your credit card company. I know with mine I can simply file a dispute of the charge online. Maybe you can do the same, or give them a call.

Really enjoying the game so far. Once region trading/commuting gets worked out I will really enjoy the challenges that the small city tiles bring.

Why would you lose your Origin account? I didn't lose mine.
There was something posted a while back saying they weren't banning accounts, despite what was posted.
Not everything we've been reading (banning accounts that get refunds, etc) is all true.
If you bought on a credit card, there really shouldn't be any issue with getting the charge reversed or whatever (charge back).
It sucks that people are having so many issues. But I would think that this far in (5 days) and people are still having issue, that asking for a refund isn't unreasonable.
edit: I just realized what you meant. I have no idea if they would ban your account, if you contacted your credit card company.

I find it offensive that 5 days in and not being able to play for something you've paid is not grounds for a refund, and then when people have the wherewithal to use their credit card to fight for them they get bullied with these tactics. Purchase protection is part of the benefits of your credit card. Use it.

Yes, using a chargeback (if it actually goes though) will definitely get you a ban for any online service, not just EA.
I say IF it actually goes through, because after filling out the forms and supplying any evidence, they will likely say that yes, you actually did receive the download of the game. The fact that the game isn't what you thought it was or doesn't work entirely isn't grounds for a chargeback. I have gone though this once before on another piece of software. In the eyes of your credit card, if you downloaded it, then you got your goods.

Free Game!
Well, who knows how terrible or fun it will be, but this is intresting never the less:
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/...ing-sim-city/1
Quote:
EA has admitted that it has made mistakes with Sim City's servers and is offering players a free game by way of apology.
Writing in a blog post, Maxis label general manager Lucy Bradshaw pinned the server issues that the game has been suffering from during its launch were due to the simple reason that more people logged on than they were expecting compared to the beta.
She also admits that not expecting more people to be playing was 'dumb' and explained that server capacity has been increased with the number of disrupted experiences dropping significantly.
Sim City players who have activated the game by March 18 will receive an email from EA with instructions on how to download a free PC game from the publisher's portfolio.
"I know that's a little contrived - kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We're hoping you won't stay mad and that we'll be friends again when Sim City is running at 100 per cent,' said Bradshaw.
Sim City is the fifth game in city building series, excluding Sim City societies and various spin offs. Launching last week, its requirement for a persistent internet connection in order to run, even in single player modes, led large numbers of its players to be locked out due to server failures.
As a result of the server stability issues, Amazon decided to pull the game from its online store, citing performance issues. EA also removed some features, including leader boards, achievements and region filters, to try and increase stability.
Bradshaw also talked about the possibility of creating an offline-mode for the game, saying "We have no intention of offlining SimCity any time soon but we'll look into that as part of our earning back your trust efforts."
Good Old Games took advantage of the much-talked about server problems the new game was facing and tweeted: [i]'Server problems? DRM-free SimCity 2000 needs no internet to play AND it's only $5.99.'[i]

Good on them for trying, however, I haven't bought yet so I haven't been burnt by them

I've seen the shortest path finding videos, but also a few posts that suggest Update 1.3 fixed it. Can anyone confirm?

Didn't seem fixed for me. I had a dirt road and a medium density avenue a block up the street and everyone was using the dirt road.

I got on last night and played for a solid 6 hours. First time since the release night and it was just as fun as I remembered, like a lost friend. I really need some neighbors as my residential cant keep up with my industrial (I claimed the land next so I can make a water/residential city ha). but awesome fun times! up over a million simoleons and 119,000 sims.

got some solid play in over the weekend, and while it's a lot better than it was there are still some major issues i have with it. i tried to specialize my city in tourism, had an expo center, sports stadium, and a couple of landmarks. problem is having these in my city made traffic an absolute nightmare, every street was gridlock. it also had the effect of turning all of my commercial zones into hotels. so i demolished all the tourist stuff and specialized in electronics instead. well the problem here is that now all the hotels are useless and were being abandoned, and instead of changing to something else when i demolished them more hotels kept popping up, going out of business, and being abandoned. it was several hours after i had removed the tourism stuff before the commercial zones started getting back to normal, but i'm still fighting the odd hotel building being abandoned
i also have citizens and my police force clamoring about crime, yet my crime map shows 0 crimes being committed per day. WTF? doesn't seem to matter how many cop cars i put on the street, they won't shut about about needing more even though they're in a crime free utopia
streetcars are also completely broken. my main route from the highway is a street car avenue oval (a very elongated oval going from top to bottom with commercial in the middle) and one horizontal streetcar avenue in the middle. when i checked my streetcar usage, i was shocked to see that ALL of my streetcars (14) were only going back and fourth on the one avenue in the middle, they weren't even touching the main oval at all. so then i downgraded the horizontal avenue, which caused the streetcars to disappear (thinking they would reappear in the station and be forced to travel the oval). well they didn't reappear, they're just gone. even if i demolish the streetcar building and build a new one, i get no more streetcars. my public transport is pretty crippled now because of this
back to my electronics specialization, i thought at first that i wasn't making any money with it, despite how much i put into it since my revenue was always still in the red. but then i noticed that my bank kept growing despite my revenue showing -15k per hour. it would be nice if your city specialization revenue would count towards your regular income, because though i'm still making money i have no idea how much and it's harder to plan finances accordingly
those are all the big issues that i've noticed so far. the region play is working now, but it's extremely delayed. if you put up power, water, or other services in one city don't expect to be able to buy them in another city for several hours after. it seems to take that long for the servers to recognize what's available in the region
