My hope for Hall is that he's just waiting for the Flames to make a couple trades so they can comfortably sign him.

Getting Taylor Hall would be epic especially if we could manage to keep the big names still.

Feels like the team would need to move a huge ticket to get Hall. I think we all know that is Johnny. If the Flames can get Hall on a 6 year $8M per deal and recoup some solid futures for Johnny it is a smart move for the org.
I feel like that has been the Flames plan for a while but won’t do it until they know Hall is in

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
And if they sign Hall first does that not screw them over when they try to move Johnny when teams know they have to move him?

The only way to get Hall while keeping Mony and Johnny is trading Noah Hanifin for picks.... Unless Hanifin was a big name?

Considering it’s Tre , I’m sure he reached out to both players . Tre did say that priority 1 was to get markstrom. It also sounded like a RHD was priority #2. As much as some of the fan base wants Hall it was not at the top of list for flames

Honestly Hall should have been a priority. Yes the flames got better IMO
However instead of losing in the first round, we now lose in the second or third. We need Hall

Treliving has to have an outgoing trade done before making a deal with Hall/Toffoli so I guess we’ll just have to wait sigh

It will obviously drive down Gaudreau’s selling price. How far it drives it down depends on the number of suitors you have. 1 suitor - you’re in trouble, 2 suitors - the price will sting a bit, 3 plus suitors - I think the depression in selling price is marginal.
If Gaudreau’s on the market, I think you have 3 or more suitors.

The Flames effectively have 300k in cap space after signing Mangiapane, Gawdin and Kylington.
Up to 7 teams are rumored to be in on Hall. Several of them have enough cap space to sign Hall without having to make any moves. Somes of these teams, such as Boston and Montreal, are reported to have made multiple offers today. Nothing on the Flames front.
I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Why? He can go 10 percent over the cap.. he can sign hall and then make trades afterwards.

Do players turn down more money sometimes? Of course. Whether it be for family reasons on where they want to live, or in order to get a no trade clause, or for a particular opportunity.
But he ain't turning down $6M to play for $3.75M. This is Staples dilusio-ganda

Call it a lie if you want, tweets were posted in the signing thread and it wasn't me tweeting them out.
The problem though is you don't appear to have the foresight to see how turning down money to play in the right situation can massively affect his future earnings.
If Barrie takes 1x6 in say Vancouver, gets PP2 time because they have Hughes, he's looking at a another 35-45 point season. What does his next contract look like? 5x4-4.5?
If Barrie takes the Edmonton offer and foregoes 2.25m now and puts up 65-70 points, he could be looking at 6.5-7 over 5-7 years, potentially gaining 10m+
It's a risk, but it's pretty obvious this is what he is doing.

Flames will need to make some trades, as the team has some glaring issues.
On defense, not sure if Kylington is a top 6.
With the forwards, they need to add scoring.

I don't think so with 30 other teams.
For example:
Team A offers a 2nd round pick for Gaudreau - super low
Team B goes higher with a 1st round pick - still low
Team C wants Gaudreau and will offer a bit higher
I think if there ARE teams who want Gaudreau, the market will balance itself out. Every team will want to take advantage but also pay a bit more to outbid other teams.

My thoughts are that if everyone knows he has to make a trade for cap reasons then they can low ball him. He loses his position of strength

Taylor Hall's Childhood Dream Realized:
If the Flames are still in the thick of things to bring Taylor Hall home, we can now take Rittich out of the equation as Brad just said BSD is part of our goaltending duo moving forward.
It certainly looks doable if Treliving can move out the rumoured Bennett & Hanifin package + Ryan (there is a bit of space left to take some salary on a Vet C or D)
Hall (7.5) - Backlund - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Dubé - Gawdin (.800) - Mangiapane (2.5)
Lucic - Ruzicka - Rinaldo
Robinson
Giordano - Tanev
Välimäki - Andersson
Mackey - Kylington (.800)
Vet D
Markström
Rittich
Cap Hit: $79,190,832
Buyouts: $2,666,667
Bonuses: $947,500
Cap Space: $2,309,168
