Rod Black is now trending on Twitter for the usual reasons (i.e. being terrible at his job).

But how will it affect the CFL if/when the league folds after 1 season? Won’t these guys be worried they’ll lose their starting jobs in the cfl? And aren’t most of them under contract already?
I figure if the xfl ever takes off, it’ll take a few seasons to have any affect on the cfl.

And why would they want CFL QBs ? They will want name guys to sell the league. Ex NFLers or college stars

Outside BLM who will garner a serious look? Harris? Not a chance. Reilly? Too old. Masoli? Maybe?

Agreed. CFL QB’s are typically smaller school guys who wouldn’t be in demand in the XFL. You think they’re going to pay someone like Nick Arbuckle $495k? They’ll want guys who can help sell tickets and market the league, but aren’t necessarily ready or good enough to play in the NFL.

As long as Reilly and Mitchell are under contract, Masoli is probably the only QB that will the XFL will be pursuing. A lot of the QB's will likely be guys that are just outside the NFL.

BLM wont garner a look at all.
He has a 4 year deal and makes way more than 500K now.
That being said, a few other guys will still get deals. ALL of them are former NFLers and/or college stars in their day. Thats why they are around now.
Masoli a FA after this year? Yes he will get looked at seriously. Reilly makes too much to leave. Vernon Adams may get some attention as well. Arbuckle too.
Any drain on the QB position in this league is not good as it is thin enough as it is.

Highly unlikely.
But guys cant just break contracts and go elsewhere regardless.
They would still be subject to lawsuits Im guessing.

Norm!

The XFL will want a QB who will nail a cheerleader with one hand while swigging a beer in the other and then go out of the field and open a can of whoop ass.

No...for breaking a contract.
Is that not what we are talking about?
And again...Bo is not even in this conversation since he would be leaving 400K a year on the table to do so.

Yes. The Stampeders would never sue him for breach of contract to play in the xfl. They would suspend him, not pay, and probably be pissed off. But the idea they'd bring a suit against him is a little far fetched.

Why?
Why would they just allow any player who is under contract to walk away from it with no ramifications. That would set a rather poor precedence.
The STampeders arent here to be a feeder system for other teams or leagues, it just seems that way because of how many great players Hufnagel finds and DD develops.

I'm sure there's an example of a player leaving their contract in North America and playing in the KHL.
That aside.
BLM has a contract, lets say an XFL team offers him 500k American to play close to home. He chooses to not report to the Stamps. Stamps suspend him and don't pay him. They what then? File suit in Canada? The optics are terrible. Never would happen.

CFL is not allowing players under contract to go to the freakin XFL, what a dumb suggestion.
Whats Bo going to take $700k+ in a well established league, in a city where he's set his roots vs a startup league that has already failed once before for $500k ($650k converted to CAD)?
They allow it for NFL cuz its the freaking NFL. That too is for the option year. Rarely does it happen during the already signed contract.
Hand in your common sense card.
