Bautista's season has been awesome and he deserves a raise in a year. I have no idea if the Jays will keep him, but he's been a leader and pretty much the face of the franchise this year, so it's going to be hard to let him go if he gets too much.

A couple more HR's for the Jays today, including one for Vernon Wells who is having his best season since 2006. Definitely possible to see him beat his career high of 33 HRs.
It's good to see VW producing again.

The Jays won their 81st game of the season to go against 75 losses. I don't think anyone in the US media thought the Jays would be a .500 team this year.

Again, I pat myself on the back because I did predict an 81 win season. Man I'm good.

Cool night at the Skydome. Citos last home game, a bunch of the players were wearing Cito moustaches, including Snider who went yard. Jays also win and set a club home run record.

And if I heard right - the 5th highest EVER in MLB. Pretty impressive.

Yeah, 4 games left and trailing the 2000 Astro's by two home runs.
3 of the 4 teams ahead of them did it during the steroid era if you will. The Astro team I mentioned as well as the Mariners from 1997, and the 1996 Orioles. Many would still be somewhat skeptical of the 260 put up by the 2005 Rangers.

Gonna miss Cito. So many times over the years he frustrated the hell out of me by going too long with his starters. In the end though, we got two titles with him.
Bobby Cox and Cito being gone after this year is going to be weird.
It's been an odd year, but a lot of fun points. I was optimistic and felt we would end up 10 games over .500. We're not going to get that, but we're looking like it's going to be 6 or 7 over. So not bad.

Another day, another game with a bunch of homers for the Jays, including Bautista's 53rd and 54th. EE hit 2, and they also got others from Molina and Snider.
Team now at 253, which as mentioned above, is the 4th highest total of all-time. Unreal.

Only the 1996 Baltimore Orioles (257), the 2005 Texas Rangers (260) and the 1997 Seattle Mariners (264) have hit more in one year.

With 3 games left, anything is possible, especially getting to 257. 264 seems out of reach, but they hit 6 tonight, so I guess it ain't over til it's over.
Another tidbit according to ESPN, tonight's game was the 39th time this season the Jays have hit at least 3 homers in a single game, which is 2nd most in history.

Unreal hitting display by Toronto. The likely can't reach the record, but they're sure trying. 4 HR per game over the final 3 will give them the record.

Too bad more people didn't get to see that Grad slam that Bautista hit. He absolutely crushed that well into the upper deck at Target field. I'd like to see the numbers showing how many times the Jays have hit 5 or more home runs in a game this year because it's happened a fair bit.

Per a graphic Sportsnet had up yesterday, the Jays have an 8HR game, two 6HRs and two 5HRs.

All of Jose's home runs this season.
Thanks for a fun season, Blue Jays!

Looks like John Farrell, pitching coach of the Red Sox, is going to be the next Blue Jays manager: http://tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=338349

I'd have to think it would be a good thing just due to the fact that Pitching is the primary strength of the team, and with how many people were interviewed, AA must think very highly of him.

Yeah, I think Farrell is also pretty well regarded. He was Player Development director with the Indians in the early 00's I think. I also read, I think, that he has turned down/or been rumoured as a very strong candidate for several managerial jobs in the past few years. The R. Sox also think apparently very high of him.
