From the article:
Quote:
The price of tag of project hasn’t changed and it’s not immediately clear whether Calgary-based Graham Infrastructure, the company assembling the steel bridge, will be asking for more cash.

Farrell said she hasn’t heard a “whisper” that Graham would be demanding for more cash.
If it is Graham that is on the hook for the delays then they can delay as long as they want, just as long as it is done right when they are finally finished. I'd much rather a delay (on their dime) than see it temporarily closed on and off while it is fixed on the taxpayer dime.

Waht are you worried about? That power line is keeping things together rather nicely.

This isn't really a big deal. The concrete isn't structural, it's just the surfacing material. It's going to be cracked in a year anyway, but I guess they want things to look shiny and new for the opening.

The dumb thing is that the surface was supposed to be granite, but that was switched to concrete when it was bid, to save costs and keep the bridge in budget.

The savings may end up being short term, though, as the maintenance cost of the concrete decking could be greater over the long run.

Yeah... that's an expansion joint. Nothing that is responsible for the load-bearing ability of the bridge is compromised in that picture.

Who wants to organize a CP latte-sipping meetup during the ribbon-cutting?

You are so correct, they should have spent the money on another power centre just like 162nd, that place is awesome.

But I'm trying to organize a SSP latte-sipping meetup. Let's have one on each end of the bridge!

Alderman calls for forensic audit as Peace Bridge price tag climbs

Determining the actual cost of building the controversial Peace Bridge may require a forensic audit, after it was revealed the span’s price tag has jumped by $200,000, says an alderman

Diane Colley-Urquhart said she plans on asking for a forensic audit on the now $24.7 million bridge, but she also wants to wait and see what final figures bureaucrats will come up with when the bridge is finally opened next month.

Honestly I quite like the design of the bridge, and I think time will be much kinder to it once it's open and done with. But this really has been a mess from start to finish.
