What would be the transfer value be for someone like Pasquotti or Camargo? 500k each? 1-mil? I hope the selling club (Cavalry) will get the profits from the sale.
Is the CPL and MLS follow the same international transfer windows? Aren't all the players only signed 1-year deal so they will become free agents at the end of the season.

What would prevent Cavalry from just waiting? I guess the existing contract length would be the only thing. If a player could walk for free over the winter, I guess the club would want to cash in now.
But on the flip side, why would an MLS club throw a bunch of money at a player with an expiring contract anyway?
It will be interesting to see how these potential transfers all play out. So far it has been all about the inaugural rosters, recruitment, and development.

On another note, why is our next game vs Edmonton on Friday the 16th? Why would you not put it on the 17th or 18th to try to allow more away support to travel down from Edmonton? Seems really dumb and anti-supporter to me.

Well, from Vancouver's perspective, and given how much of a wreck their season is, they've got nothing to lose by letting someone like Pasquotti come in and essentially try-out for a full time spot next year.
From ours, the question would be what is more valuable to ownership: quick money now, or continued on-field success and the potential of a slower growth that brings? It would be a much different story, of course, if we were in Winnipeg's position. If you're going nowhere fast, then yeah, sell that coveted player.

Fairly certain Northover is out for the year. Did his knee in training last week. That would be two RB's out for the year and means its Hamilton's job to lose.
The league has really botched the scheduling Cavalry / Edmonton games in the Fall season, with the Edmonton leg on a Wednesday. Guess they are okay with having Cavalry / Edmonton in front of 1000 fans on that dump of a high school football field. The last game is the season finale on a Saturday, but by then Cavalry will have nothing to play for.

Regarding the sale of Pasquotti and Camargo, I don't see any reason for Cavalry to sell either until the offseason. Yes, you want to be seen as a club that develops talent for bigger leagues (Pasquotti is a good example as he came out of Lethbridge and spent 3 years with Foothills in the PDL), but at the same time, you have to capitalize on your momentum while having the season you are and not submarine your season for a small transfer fee.
And yes, neither would bring a big fee. The only comparable example I can think of in recent memory is the transfer of Shamit Shome from Edmonton to MLS. I've heard that the transfer itself was less than $50K, and what Edmonton gained was the ability to show that there is talent being developed in Canadian cities outside of MLS. Shome's development dropped off a cliff the next 2 years in Montreal but now he starts almost every game.
From the fans side, people are going to have to get used to seeing the best players sold to better leagues though. The main reason this league started is to develop Canadian players and have the best ones move on to better leagues to further the national teams. Until clubs are selling out MLS sized stadiums with MLS prices the best players will want to move on to leagues where they can make more money.

I've already bought my ticket for that game. One of the perks of living in that dump I guess. I'll be the one man support section.

Also, when Pasquotti moves on, Calgary Foothills had a 16 year old winger who played at a comparable level in PDL this year, Aribim Pepple. I think he'll be on Cavalry's first team sooner rather than later.

I realize that this is likely what we have with the CPL (a developmental league that will produce players for MLS and beyond), and I'm ok with that. At the same time I really want our boys to run the table this year!

For the club, of course no reason to sell until the offseaon. But you have to also take the players wishes into play as well. The ability to join an Mls team is no small matter and I think every player would rather be there than here for their career development, exposure and thus earning potential.
And while someone can enlighten me on the salary structure of the Mls and their players that are on the bottom 10 or 15 of the roster and play sparingly, my guess is its still more than the Calvary pay packet.
That said, Vancouver is a hot mess. Out scored 16-2 in last run of Mls games is wretched. If the manager or even someone like Lenerduzzi again gets the boot, the new staff will be making whole sale changes, and the guys on the bottom of the totem pole such as Cavalry guys may be out of favour before getting a chance, and outright released, depending on the contract they sign. Of course in theory they could come back to the Cavs for free at that point too and or on loan, depending on the contracts and transfer agreements.
