The airspace around DC and New York City is absolutely insane with multiple airports and helicopters everywhere just zooming around.

ATC recording suggests the helicopter is at fault. They said they had the plane in sight, and were told to maintain visual separation. "Don't hit that guy" sounds crazy and media will report it as such, but it's an incredibly standard instruction.

I can't recall ever hearing of a passenger plane crashing into a helicopter before.

NBC saying four people have been pulled from the water, no specifics beyond that. I'm honestly surprised they could find anyone in one piece.

Acey said bodies, saying people means some survivors. Fingers crossed.

My guess is that "bodies" is more accurate at this point but I guess we don't know for sure.

The radio definitely made it clear that those people were not alive, that count is now up to 14. Still unclear if 4 people were pulled alive prior to that. Given the temperature of that water, the chances of surviving are decreasing exponentially as hours pass.

CNN saying no United States VIP were on board the helicopter. Sounds like 3 military members on board the helicopter, 60 passengers + 4 crew on the plane.

I realize this post is probably bait but

a) the rules that allowed the helicopter to be in the vicinity of a commercial jet like this have been in place for decades
b) early signs point to this accident being the fault of the helicopter pilot
