Canada didn't win the World Juniors from 1998-2004 (7 years in a row). Yet they won the Olympics in 2002, 2010 and 2014. Lots of those latter winners were part of the losing junior teams.

I don't agree. It seems more accurate to say, as Mike F has pointed out, that the current World Cup team—which comprises basically the same core of players from the 2010, 2014 Olympic teams—is essentially the same group that was winning juniour championships in 2005–2009.

That's essentially untrue...
Seabrook, Carter, Getzlaf, Crosby, and Mike Richards were on the 2004 team, however all of those players were also on the 2005 team that won gold, i.e. were part of the generation of winning. Other than those players...
The 2002 Olympic team had 2 players from the 98-04 World Junior generation - Simon Gagner and Eric Brewer;
The 2010 Olympic Team had 4 players from that generation - Fleury, Heatley, Luongo, and Nash.
The 2014 Olympic team had 4 players from that generation - Nash, Bouwmeester, Luongo, and Hamhuis.
Not exactly a significant contribution to Canada's dominance.

Wasn't meant to be a projection of the future, just slapped together the current best 25 and under team I could. I'm 99% sure guys like Bennett and Domi will be there in 10 years instead of guys like Skinner and Couturier

Somewhat related note - all World Cup of Hockey merchandise is 50% off (except for Canada and Team Europe) at adidas.ca. Free shipping for orders over $50

Picked up a Team North America jersey myself.

Somewhere in North America maybe? You know it is a pretty big continent
I just got a blank jersey for keepsake, maybe get Gaudreau put on when he signs long-term here with the Flames. Fingers crossed....

Touche haha.
Jonathan Toews is 45-1-1 for Canada. It's hard to be pumped for international play when Canada does nothing but dominate. The world juniors is fun because Canada doesn't win every year.

I was just responding to the idea that "they will suck"
They may not be as dominant but they certainly won't suck...Canada will be one of the favorites for sure
not winning the world juniors means nothing because their top few guys are always contributing at the NHL level
Monahan, McDavid ect. would have given the team pretty massive boosts in recent years

Actually, quite a few of the 10/14 team came from the losing teams from 98-04 teams as well. Luongo, Nash, Hamhuis, Fleury, both Richards, Carter, Seabrook, Crosby, BUrns, Getzlaf, Spezza, Heatley, Jaybo.
On the other hand not too many guys from the previous gold medal run from 93-97 made those Olympic winning teams. Kariya, Iggy, Peca, Jovo, Thornton.

You are missing some I think. Morrow, Burns and Spezza? And being on the losing team doesn't count if you were on the winning team the next year? OK I guess.
But it turns out that the guys from the recent WJC winning streak made up about the same amount of those 3 Olympic winners than the guys from the previous losing streak. Aside from the players from the losing streak, and the crossover guys, you have: Weber, Toews, Doughty,Tavares, Benn, Perry, Pietrangelo, Price, Bergeron and Subban. That's 10, just like the amount from the losing streak, and then I guess you count the guys from 04-05 in both camps.
The point is, I doubt you can make that direct correlation. Besides, you then work in anomolies like Nagano where Canada had the best talent and should've won IMO (but for Hasek plus bad coaching decisions). Or Turin where they built the team wrong.

Pretty impressive by Marchand to put that puck under the bar from where it was, near his back skate.
