The problem with Harris and why it should be anyone but Harris or Buttiteg is they are “part of the Biden health coverup”. If it is a current admin member the Biden age/heath controversy lives on.

The attack line is how can you trust Harris when she lied to you about Biden.

The bigger problem with Harris is I don’t think she has a chance to win.

I don't doubt the Democrats are still in trouble come election time, but I do wonder if a percentage of Republican voters become less motivated once Biden is, in essence, defeated next week.

Same could be said for Canadian politics if Trudeau were to step down.
If Biden were to step down and they decided to go through a formal, condensed primary/open convention that would definitely shift all the media focus onto them for the next four weeks and would potentially be a big boost.

Biden should have stepped down right before Trump took the stage.

I don't think that argument has much legs. I can't really imagine anyone in the admin going public with concerns about Biden and it's a tough sell to say they should have. Who knows what they said in private.

An open convention would be fun to watch, and would certainly boost the attention focus, but if there is no clear replacement and the party ends up pretty divided in picking a leader that could be disastrous.

It's certainly a big risk and I don't think the Dems have the balls to do it. Maybe if it was Romney or McCain etc.

And yet Michelle Obama would likely win in a landslide.

There are probably a lot of logistical problems with that. For one, I think there is an Aug 7 deadline to get the name on ballots in some states.

They were still voting for Biden. I'll happily eat crow if they do but I feel like Harris will encourage a lot of votes against her.

It is insane to me that the US, supposed bastion of freedom and dreams, wouldn't be ready for a Female PoC as president.

#### me there have been Female heads of state in even the US's hated Muslim governments around the world.

Canada as well should be ashamed at our ability to tear down our female leaders as well.

Something is truly wrong in our "progressive" cultures in the "civilized" West.

That is how you end up with a Stephan Dion or Andrew Scheer.

Don't underestimate the power of Black Female voters in the US. They are the backbone of the Democratic base.

That just isn't true given demographics in the US.

Michelle Obama would destroy Trump.

It is the regressive people that are the problem. Progressives would be fine with Harris. I work in agriculture and some of the #### I hear over beers is pretty nuts. A lot of subtle racism that would become less subtle if Harris was put up. Have we already forgotten about the whole Obama passport thing.

Although there is zero chance Canada would elect an Indigenous person as a PM right now.

I agree with you in that they didn’t have good options to intervene. I don’t think that stops it from being an effective political tool to create the you can’t trust the democrats narrative.
