Nice.
Likely will be free in less than half that time.

I'm not sure if the math checks out but mowing that guy down in a couple years can't be worth more than 6 months, don't even have to get out of the car.

Actually, I think I'm wrong. It's not even half the sentence, it's a third?

Can't inconvenience those convicted criminals after all.

That's wild. All I'm saying is if that was my daughter I would have a hard time not looking for justice, since the precedence is set. I mean I guess as long as I make sure I'm drunk and don't stop to call an ambulance.

I couldn't understand what you meant. He pushed it down there to save people from a burning car? Then I looked it up and it seems like he started the fire intentionally and pushed the car into the forest.

Sounds like such a great guy though.

Stout was arrested in 2020 for a DUI in Bidwell Park, where the fire started, and he has older convictions for child molestation, which require him to register as a sex offender, as well as robbery with great bodily injury, for which he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was still on probation for the DUI when he was arrested Thursday.
Usually drunk drivers stick to driving drunk, child molesters stick to molesting kids, robbers stick to robbing, arsonists stick to lighting fires. This guy offended for the cycle!

Finally did it. Submitted a 311 on a neighbor. Not an immediately adjacent one otherwise I’d go have a friendly chat. But not comfortable with that.
Backyard smelly smokey fire pit.
During a fire ban no less.

Otherwise they’ve been good people in the neighborhood for years, except for several smelly Smokey fire pits annually.

Dang. RGMG…. I appear to be wrong about there being a fire ban right now in Calgary. Still…. Sigh….. not good form. Still a smelly Smokey fire.

Lol you submitted a complaint and didn't even know there was no longer a fire ban? You're that bad neighbor.

At least he didn't burn his neighbor's house down in response . . . with a fire.

If that doesn't change their habits I don't know if anything will, even prison.
Drunk drivers tend to be alcoholics who drive drunk a lot. It’s very difficult to get this group to change their behaviour through social messaging and shaming. Once they’ve killed someone, it’s too late.

The only way to stop them is to catch them multiples times and take away their licenses. But you can drive for years and years without hitting a check stop, because they’re costly to operate. So the question is how much are you willing to increase the annual operational budget of the police in order to catch 10 or 20 or 30 more drunk drivers a year and eventually get some of them off the road?

You see my immediate follow up confession? Essentially saying I’ve grinded my own gears. Therefore that supersedes your grinding I think! Ha.

I’m not entirely “wrong” though. There are some other details I had omitted here on CP still necessitated some bylaw education, but not a fine. I’m good with that. A sergeant did respond to my submission and indicated as such. Here’s what’s currently posted online:

Considering their fire pit is right next to a wood fence, their wood shed, and under a tree… and dry brown grass… they have all the ingredients for a wonderful rip roaring outa control extravaganza. Being just a few homes over doesn’t make me comfortable.

I dont go down south very often but it’s hilarious that the bridge on 22x still isn’t done.

I’d be embarrassed to be a part of that project.

I'm going on 40 and I swear I was going on 30 the first time I started hitting construction zones on that bridge.

I'm 47. They've been screwing around with that bridge since I was 16.

The fools who think the passing lane ending in 200m sign is their queue to move right on over to the left lane. ####ers, that big area with no dotted lines is the merge area, there is no need to change to the left lane before the end of the passing lane when you have cars passing you. So much hate.
