Ousted minister suggesting antisemitism problem within the NDP.
Quote:
It has been a most difficult year for Selina Robinson, who was ousted from B.C.’s NDP cabinet for her comments during a forum on Israel. She says she had long known the NDP had an antisemitism problem but has become estranged from her progressive peers since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.
|
Quote:
My values have not changed. The left’s values are broken; their values aren’t consistent. They are not living up to the values they proclaim to have. There is a minority group, Jews, afraid in your community, and you are silent, because you’re afraid to upend your quote-unquote supporters.
|
Quote:
There’s been a group of Jewish progressives for the last, I would say, three to five years, poking away at the federal New Democrats to say “You’re getting it wrong. Your obsession with Israel is problematic.” Israel is not a perfect country, but it’s a democracy, and all you’re doing is attacking it. You’re attacking it more than you attack China, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Iran. You attack Israel more than all the other nations put together, and it’s an obsession, and it’s wrong, and it’s antisemitic, and they don’t see it, and that’s the problem.

On a related, but seperate point, shouldn't the libertarians be on board with a dude who's worth 100 million dollars doing whatever he wants for holiday? Isn't that the basic principle of the society you want to live in?
How come the anti-woke, leave me to be me-types are the suckiest sucks that ever sucked, and the actual people that have it hard barely complain at all?

I don't care where he vacations and I think it's ridiculous to confront him. He's doing a bad job but we have elections for that problem.
However, is he really worth $100MM? If so, how?

The $100 million is a made up number, probably by foreign agents to slander him, like, say, India. Go ahead and search, you'll find the same BS.
Quote:
Trudeau and his brothers were given shares in two numbered companies by their father: the first containing a portfolio of securities, from which they receive regular dividends, up to $20,000 per year; and the second which receives royalties from their father's autobiography and other sources, about $10,000 a year.[59] As of August 2011, the first numbered company had assets of $1.2 million.[60] The Trudeau brothers were also given a country estate of about 50 hectares in the Laurentians with a home designed by the esteemed Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, and the Cormier House in Montreal.[61][59][62] The country estate land was estimated to be worth $2.7 million in 2016.[62]

It's probably more in the range of $15 million, but I guess if you don't like it, maybe support estate taxes? Wealth redistribution? Big priorities of the right, I'm sure.

Canada is hosting the G7 in June? Could easily see Trudeau hanging on to run that just for the facetime.
Nevermind the "death to Canada" protestors that will inevitably there too.

It basically all comes from his father. Yes, he parlayed the family name into some lucrative speaking gigs to make some good money but everything he has accomplished and grown is because of his father and grandfather.

Yeah. I expect some light grifting and I'm sure the Trudeau foundation and it's $125MM taxpayer-provided endowment can find something for him to do that pays well after politics.
But if he was independently worth $100MM I'd want to know why.

Similar sources peg PP’s worth at something like $25M.
Career politicians in Canada obviously get the bag.

I'm not trying to back up any claim for his net worth number just justifying my comment that his fortune comes from his father/family. He's not some self made millionaire who amassed a bunch of money through hard work and dedication. He bummed around and pretended to work as a commoner because he was afforded that opportunity.
