Winter Sunrise by Witty nickname, on Flickr
This was taken from my Son's bedroom Tuesday morning, just after he woke up. The cool crisp sky needed to be photographed.
Captured at 35mm and f/2.5 400 ISO (Nikkor 35mm f/1.8)

I'm going to the Florida Vs Bama Basketball game tomorrow night and I was wondering what settings should I start with?
Here is a picture of the arena that I will be in so you can get the idea of how dark it's going to be in the arena

The arena might be dark, but I'm sure what you're aiming at will be lit up.
First of all, shoot RAW files (assuming you have software to edit them afterwards).
If your camera has Auto-ISO, I would set it up so it will go no higher than 1600 - 2000.
Then you can shoot in Manual Mode. I'd start with f5.6 - f/8 and see if that works with any shutter speed above 1/125 sec. Set the ISO to 100 and then it will bounce around between 100 and 1600/2000 to give a correct exposure.
If it doesn't have Auto-ISO, then I'd just set it at 1600 (assuming that will still produce usable images on your camera) and use Shutter Priority Mode (Tv on a Canon). Play around with 1/125 or 1/250 of a second and see what gives the best effect.
Depending on how it's all turning out, just use Exposure Compensation to adjust the exposure up or down by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop so you can just forget about it.
With my D7000, if I am using Aperture or Shutter priority modes, I usually have the Exposure Compensation set to -2/3 since the D7000 tends to overexpose everything if I leave it neutral.
What lens are you using? If you're using a telephoto, or anything with 200mm or more of reach, you'll want to bump your shutter speed up to 1/320 sec or faster if you want to cancel out any chance of blur.

what software are you using?
i know my camera came with software that will let you open/edit raw files and you can save them as jpg's if you like
i'm sure something like lightroom would allow you to open/convert raw files to jpg

You don't want to do a 'bulk convert'. The whole point of shooting in RAW is so that you can 'develop' your RAW Files (think of them as Negatives, only they're digital).
In Lightroom, if you have a bunch of photos that were taken with the same settings and in the same environment, you can develop one to get the effect and finish you want, then apply those settings to some or all of your photos from that Import to save time.
If you just want the RAW files, as they were shot, with no adjustments, then you should have just shot in JPEG mode, lol. Sorry I wasn't clear. I assume everyone knows the difference. My bad.

I have a hard time getting the sliders in Lightroom to look as good as my in-camera processing.

I plan on playing with them for a little while but I just want to get them uploaded so a friend of mine can see them. I have em converted but one folder with raw files and the other as JPEG.

The Beta version of Lightroom 4 is available for download from Adobe's website. http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom4/
Looks like lightroom 3 is also 50% off right now, so you can get it for 150 now, and upgrade to LR4 when it comes out for $100. End up saving a little bit of money in the end.

Last I checked B&H Photo had Lightroom 3 for $70. With shipping it should still be under $100.
