Pending the result of tonight's game this is how I have things more or less at the half way point. Mid season hot take.
AFC
Likely Division winners and my projected seeding
1.) Buffalo
2.) Baltimore
3.) Kansas City
4.) Tennessee
Wild card contenders basically 5 teams for 3 spots and I think one of the Jets or Bengals will miss out.
1.)Miami
2.) Los Angeles Chargers
3.) New York Jets
4.) Cincinnati
5.) New England
I'll pronounce everyone else as dead at this point.
NFC
Division winners
1.) Philadelphia
2.) Minnesota
Might win Division but likely playoff bound as a 3 seed and other as a 6 or 7
1.) Seattle
2.) San Francisco
Won't win Division but Wild Card spot more or less nailed down.
5.) Dallas
6 or 7.) New York Giants
Thank Oprah for your playoff chances as the 4 seed. Might bump the Saints up a spot if they beat the Ravens tonight.
1.) Tampa Bay
2.) Atlanta
3.) New Orleans
Everyone else I think are pretenders. So Green Bay and Los Angeles...I don't see any of them getting back into it unless injury derails another team.

You forgot Pittsburgh. They have nothing to play for now. Vegas will probably be in that battle as well.

Tomlin isn't going anywhere and TJ Watt will return at some point, so Pittsburgh likely won't be bottom of the league bad. Arizona....that's a team that I can see quitting on the coach and quitting on each other.

Do the raiders have their own first round pick or did that go to Green Bay for Adams?

Why would they need it? Carr to Adams is more than enough to win that division, or so I was told. Not enough to avoid back-to-back humiliating defeats against powerhouses like the Saints and Jags, mind you.

Saints D's Achilles' heel is mobile QBs - they make both Hurts and Mariota look like Vick when they play them - and up against the current best running QB in the league tonight, I don't like their odds, especially with their #1 CB Lattimore out again. But it should be competitive at least, I can see it being a closer game anyway. We'll see what happens.

The Raiders own their 2023 1st round pick. They traded their 2022 1st round pick in the Adams trade.

That’s good at least, takes some of the sting out of the season knowing you may be able to get a QB. Denver’s best bet is hoping Jimmy G’s wet tissue knees explode and mr glass CMC explodes like an ice sculpture coming down an escalator.
Speaking from experience I can say you do not want McDaniels being the guy who makes the call on who you draft at QB.

I would be happy with getting one of the best defenders in the draft. There's not likely going to be a QB in the draft that can overcome the a team that trots out one of the worst defenses in the league year in, year out. The Raiders have not even fielded a top 20 defense since 2002 I believe. You draft a QB and he busts (and most of them do), then you just set the franchise back longer. You can manufacture offense but you can't turn crap into a top 10 defense.

Lots of potential timelines for how long he could be out, including Tommy John which would obviously end his season.

Shirtless Adam Schefter dancing on the field is something that I never expected to see.

I'll never not hate holding on a run being a 10 yard penalty. It's an over the top drive killer.

Saints offence can't convert on 3rd down, and their D can't get off the field on 3rd down. I feel like that may be problematic.
EDIT: Just jumped to Flames to feel better, and I see they've blown another 3rd period lead. That's it, where's the scotch..

Lamar Jackson is just incredible to watch with his legs, it's like he's covered in teflon. But man do his passes look like wounded ducks sometimes.

Recollections of Dunigan hired as coach and GM by Feterik.
Irsay lost it a long time ago...15 years ago with his incident with providing drugs to a woman he put up in some place, who OD'ed, and he got arrested for DWI weeks later.

Thank god for that Houston pick so I can turn this off. Between the Flames and this slow burn Saints butt-kicking, I'm so sports angry tonight.
