Or “Adrian” for a more modern reference.

More modern but still nearly 50 years old.

My cats name was Ron. Forgot my new neighbour at the time didn’t know I had a cat, so when I apologized for Ron creeping in her window at night it was a little awkward.

I think its hilarious.
Cats should have rank. We named our last "Sergeant Snuggles."
Pet names should be whatever you want, the only difference is that with a cat you're probably never going to be calling it in public, thats not true of a dog...you're going to be on walks, at the dog-park, etc.
So you should make that dog's name as funny as possible.

I had a cat growing up (who was around before me) named Detective Wojceihowicz. My dad was a big Barney Miller fan, and that apparently was the deal if my sisters got a cat. We called him wojo.

I've always wanted to name a female dog "Payback".

looks like I'm in the middle of a friend breakup.
It sucks, as I don't have many close friends IRL.
At my age and with my personal circumstances, it will be hard to make another.

It sucks, went through the same thing. I may try to rekindle it again later, but I feel it would just never be the same anyways. Making new ones as you say is difficult these days, even among special interest groups.

I'm sorry to hear that.
You can rekindle friendships, I did. It took the suicide of a common friend, but we reconnected and are really tight now and open and honest with each other.
I tell him I love him on the regular, it's not odd.

I make friends easily. It helps if you’re an extrovert. The usual advice applies; get out, talk to people, find common interests, ask people out for coffee, a beer, etc. (take the lead because they won’t), follow up from these social interactions…. My deck gets busy in summer. I’ve heard women make friends more easily than do men but I have many more than my introverted wife does.

I think for us it's circumstances, and the shared past isn't enough.
He's gone a little towards being a UCP style of belief system. and I've actually gone more to the left as I've gotten older. So there is a disconnect in how we view things. limits discussion on a lot of topics.
But the biggest part is my personal fortunes have changed over the last few years, and with the cost of living, it's a now a bit grim for my family.
When people have a friend who can never afford to do anything, they quit getting asked out. I used to hang out at his house sometimes but it began to get a bit uncomfortable as I could seldom bring anything, and his wife isn't the most welcoming. (especially to someone she views as a mooch)
I think people generally like to spend time with others on their level, or social strata.
He's ghosting me, and I my mental health isn't in a place when I have the capacity to fight it.
sucks through, no matter the reason.

Not sure the best advice is to just become an extrovert.

lol, yeah a packed deck with randos sounds like my idea of ####ing hell. I have one super extroverted friend who is always sneaking plus ones into our tight-group events and...we don't love it. Quality over quantity. Just knowing and socializing with lots of people does nothing for me. Tighter friendships with a smaller group is the way to go IMO.

Or dress up as our avatars. It's always weird when you meet a CP dude and they're just a normal guy. I want Larry David ffs.

This reminds me that Silver and I have to finalize a date to get together and dig holes - no talking allowed.
