Would AV or Sutter have gotten the Canes into the playoffs? I doubt it

Pretty tough to put that record all on him considering their payroll and division

Maybe he picked up the phone and called Daryl only to find out Daryl was enjoying life on the farm with his family and has no intention to come back. Can't interview a guy who isn't interested.

Then comes the tier 2 coaches and Peters is the best available option on paper for Tier 2 coaches. He wasted no time and got it done.
Do you have any evidence to support any of that? If not, why should anyone believe that's what happened?

I choose to just believe what Treliving said - Peters was the only one he reached out to.

Also, Treliving couldn't just pick up the phone and call Darryl Sutter. Sutter is still under contract to LA, and he would first have to call LA for permission. Same goes for AV.

Edit: I also don't necessarily think that it is such a bad way to go about it. It is neither positive nor negative. If you are sure about a coach, then you are sure.

Listening to Peter's on the fan now. I'm liking him more and more. It's clear he is on another level than Gully. Even just in how he elaborates the game.

Telling was the part where Treliving wants the assistants to get out of the coaches room and get to know the players a bit more about what makes them tick...and he expressly said as far as finding the buttons to push to motivate said players.

Complete indictment of GG and the assistants for being unprepared in figuring out how to understand and then motivate each player seperately, whether it be in game or game to gsme/week to week.

For what it's worth, liked what Peters had to say and way he delivered it.

Gushing on Andersson.

Oh God. The more he talks the more you realize he flat out OWNS his info on hockey. I'm a sucker because I think Treliving got this right.

Mike Smith wasn't a top-tier #1 goaltender in the NHL, but was brought in because he was a cheaper option than acquiring a top-tier #1, in hopes that a true top-tier #1 would emerge from other players in the system.

And over the season as a whole, he wasn't good enough.

So. . . . Great comparison

Did he just say that if Andersson was elite in the AHL he should be able to play in the NHL, and with his skill should be 2nd PP, which means he would be top 4? That's what I thought I heard....

Peters says they need to figure out Bennett - if he is a center or a winger.
