Plus he was awful last year.

The only way this trade makes sense is if Barrie is included, and I doubt that Colorado is going to do Duchene and Barrie unless its Draisaitl ++

On top of that, (oh god please make it happen) If it was Barrie it would basically add nearly 12 million to the payroll while deducting Draisaitls 3.45.

I don't think that the tweet means Draisaitl for Duchene. Sounds more like "news on Draisaitl" and "SJ's interest in Duchene".

Leon is a really good player. Downgrading to a couple merely decent player(s) would make the Oilers worse, and for probably just a little bit more cap room? Drysaddle was better than McDisappearingAct in the POs.

Why would Edmonton trade Leon? While I like Duchene's skill and speed, and truly believe something in the Colorado system is the cause of his problems (among other players), you never really know if there's something wrong with the player themselves. Did they not foresee that McDavid's contract would pose challenges ahead of time? Anyway, I'm sure there are many other players who could be deal ahead of Leon if you need to free salary.

I think there will be some teams thinking that he could be more productive without Bouma, Chaisson and Brower quality wingers

Even if there is nothing to the rumour, if Draisaitl's camp got wind of it, it would only add to their potential openness towards an offer sheet.

Edmonton has treated Draisaitl fairly poorly on more than one occasion. A nice rumour that they are thinking about sending him to Colorado might have him losing his ####.

I am looking forward to the offer sheet rumours starting in about 12 hours!

That depends. Do you think there's a high probability of someone signing Sam Reinhart to the same offer sheet? Because he's been arguably the better player so far.

I don't think anyone would bother. The Flames will almost certainly match in the light of the compensation on a $4.0 m contract.

Sounds like a shake-up just for the sake of it. Backlund is a very important player in a valued position. I hope he's with the Flames for his entire career.
