His size will give him a leg up when he moves to the pro ranks. Even if he hasn't fully developed his game, it'll keep him from getting crushed.

Jankowski is the single most intriguing prospect the Flames have. I have -NO- idea what kind of player he'll turn into. He's better than the haters think, but I have no clue if he'll ever translate past the AHL. Love watching him develop.

With another game in the books and another 2 point outing Jankowski has increased his season totals to 12 goals, 12 assists and 24 points in 35 games.

This is an increase of:

Goals: 66.5%
Assists: 6.0%
Points: 29.5%

The only increase that could give one pause for concern is his assists, but has been mentioned several times this can directly be attributed to no longer playing with Mauermann, who is the teams top goal scorer.

His increase of 66.5% in goals is more than encouraging and is quite frankly very impressive. An increase of 29.5% in total points is also impressive.

If he continues to improve his goal scoring and defensive play he is going to have to force coach Leaman to either bump either Maurmann or Acciari to the wing as they need to be able to ice a pair of scoring lines.

I wonder if Burke has enough confidence in Jankowski to not draft a centre with our first rounder.

Monahan
Backlund
Jankowski
Knight

Looks pretty weak though so maybe not

Don't forget about Stajan. Granlund is also a center.

I'm still dreaming about a lotto win and picking up Ekblad.

Has Granlund been playing center all year? I wonder if he gets converted to the wing

That would be silly. Just keep drafting centers. If we have center depth when/if Jankowski makes the jump to the NHL it's easy to convert a guy like that to the wing. It's nearly impossible to do the opposite at this stage, it just doesn't happen. Always go with the center. I have no problem with the Flames drafting wingers like Klimchuk and Poirier obviously but the tie goes to the guy who plays the middle. Look at the trouble the Flames have had trying to play Camalleri at center last year.

Granlund has played center all year, Max Reinhart is the one who was moved to the wing.

Just to belabor my point even further... look how easy it was to move Reinhart to the wing this year, imagine trying to convert a winger like Baertschi to the middle instead, nearly impossible.

Load up on centers, let god sort em out.

Granlund by all accounts has played Center most of the year. Was also plaing center for the most part up with the Flames.

He's very responsible defensively so I don't see why there would be a need to convert him to wing, he's very good in his natural position.

Granlund started on LW with Byron playing as his centre and Nemisz as his RW

Once he was playing his natural position and given special teams assignments is when he started playing like the best rookie in Heat history though.

my point was he hasn't played centre all year and I'm not sure his improvement can be any more attributed to his position as it is moving up the lineup.

Ward said that it was all about ice-time. Once he had more ice-time, he was able to better do his thing.

I think Cs have more influence on the flow of play than wingers, so I would give that shift some credit too.

So janko's season is over. I'm pretty happy with progression. Playing center, 25 pts over 18, close to twice as many goals, more in game responsibility.

Next year, ppg?

PPG next year would be great.

I was glad that his first full season as a centre went well. He's certainly trending in the right direction.

Finished the year very strong offensively. Must have been a ppg over his last 10? I haven't got the actual stats.

I'm really looking forward to next season. Increased role, strength, and progression, I expect him to be ppg.

People need to relax on the PPG thing. He plays on an extremely low offensive team. The last time there was a player who was at least a PPG was 2002-03 season, over 10 years ago.

Not a bad season for Jankowski. I think I had him pegged around the 30 point this year so a little disappointed at 25 but it's not bad at all. Almost doubling his goal total is great and you can tell his point total suffered by not really having anything else to work with. Most of his goals he created on his own just to hit on that point.

I caught a handful of games this year and his overall game was flat out better then last year, by a considerable amount. Spending a whole year down the middle and improving that game is worth the trade off of more points in my opinion. His two-way game was at a high level and so was his play in his own end. He's a very smart player.

Needs to work on his bulk, obviously. The kid is a giant but has the frame to be a monster. It'll be interesting to see what he weighs in at at prospect camp, he's got to be at 6'4 now.

Has to work on his aggression and he's a more assertive player then a year ago, that's something that has to be hit on for him going into next season too. He's has to be a more engaged player for all 60 minutes. Jankowski has the passion but he has to take the bull by the horns next year and tell himself that's he's "the guy". Every play he should be the guy leading it not look hesitant.

Hopefully we see him around the 35 point mark next year, hovering just at or around a PPG. When he made the decision to jump over the USHL right to College a lot of us pegged the third season as a big year for Jankowski and he's right on schedule to hopefully make it a big one.

A 20-20 season for 40 points would really hit the mark though. He doesn't turn 20 until September though and full credit for the strides he's made but he has to continue to make bigger strides, can't let off the gas pedal.

One of my frustrations with Jankowski is he doesn't seem to have that "big" game offensively. He always seems to get 1-1 then nothing the next game, a goal here, an assist there. It might be a small quibble or mindless whining on my part but I really want him to have that wow game that people go.. damn, what a game by Jankowski. He's had a 3 point game, once.

Not taking anything away from him, he's had big games, he's had games where he's been an overall factor at both ends but I really want to see him go for it and have a couple 3-4 point nights. Too many times I've been following a game and you'll see "Jankowski goal!" early and then nothing for the rest of the night. I really want to see some statement games.

Though I honestly don't know if I want this for his development or just as ammo to shut some people up. No idea if games like that even matter for a prospects career path.

I agree wholeheartedly, especially with the bolded. I was thinking the same thing, that he hasn't had a big, point production game and maybe that's a bad thing. But who knows? All we know is that his has thrown together a good sophomore season and he should have a big junior year with some of the older guys from Providence leaving.

I'm truly excited about Jankowski. He's had a solid first 2 years in the NCAA, he's still one of the youngest guys on his team, he was looked at for the World Junior Team, and most recently named to the East Regional All-Tournament Team. Plus, he's around 6'3", 186. Now, if only if that pesky Mauermann would get out of the way...
