Good luck with that
No chance vince would cancel either, would have to be the local government, he may even put in a call to trump for an exemption
|
I really doubt that Vince would suffer the public relations disaster of keeping wrestlemania on, He also knows that if he does and this virus thing is still going on that he'd probably lose more by putting it on then postponing it.
At the same time with the XFL, if its cancelled I doubt Vince would give up on it since its all his money this time.

Smackdown happenings from the Performance Center this week. Was supposed to be in Detroit. NXT was also from the PC yesterday. Looks like this is how they're going to ride it out. Need that sweet, sweet TV and advertising money.

Could you imagine WRESTLEMANIA from the Performance Center?

Back in the early days of the NWO I attended a Nitro TV taping. And I remember a Scott Hall Kevin Nash vs Steiners match that should have been a complete classic. But it was at the start of Nash and Hall not giving a shyte and doing everything they could to kill the business. They went to a commercial break, and in front of a live audience of what must have been about 15k, they stopped wrestling and Hall and Nash went to their corner and started joking around.
I also remember seeing a tape of Jericho's famous 1001 movies promo (Moss Covered Credenza . . . Arm Bar) When they went to commercial Jericho stopped reading the list and just started ripping into the audience in a brilliant way, and then just as the camera's turned back on he was back to reading and the commentators acted like he'd been reading all through. In reality he probably only had 951 moves on that printout.

Jericho's WCW cruiserweight run was amazing and highly entertaining. His introduction to the Cruiserweight Battle Royal was hilarious. He was so ahead of his time then with his character it was nuts.

This is why I think Jericho probably needs to in the discussion for the best of all time.
Guys like Austin, Rock, and Hogan...their stuff just didn't age as well. Hogan's "wholesome" act wouldn't really work today (his NWO probably would I guess), and Rock and Austin in the attitude era wouldn't have played in the 80's and a lot of it would be politically incorrect today.
But Jericho has continually re-invented himself, and I feel like his stuff also translates well across eras. I think you could take Cruiserweight Jericho from WCW and plop him in WWE or AEW today and he would get over just as easily as he did then.

I've always had Jericho in my top list of performers. I don't have the figures at all, but I wonder what the numbers looked like when he was the guy in WWE.
I mean you can't argue that Austin, Rock and Hogan all drove huge numbers for the WWE when they were on top. Bret Hard drove large international numbers when he was on top as well. Nash was a disaster, Michaels while he's considered the top performer of all time, didn't drive numbers into the stratosphere like the Austin, Rocks and Hogans did.
Right now ranking wise.
Austin
Hogan
Rock
Hart/Jericho/Michaels.
geez, when you think about it, in the last 30 years of wrestling, covering WWE/WCW/Impact/ECW. There are very few home grown developed certified mega stars. Lesnar was on the verge of it when he quit during his first run.

Where is John Cena in that conversation? Dude had an incredible run. Of course he wasn't around for the Attitude era, but that guy defined WWE and the Ruthless Aggression era for years.

ok, you busted me Ozzy, I'm old and forgot Cena, and especially after I watched the Ruthless Agression episode on him.
Yeah, he's huge as well. I'd almost put him ahead of Hogan, just because he saved the company in the post Monday Night Wars era. He went from a guy who was about to get fired, to a huge draw and a Mega Star. He was also I think one of the smartest guys in the history of the business just in terms of how he approached things.
You got me, I will go and feel shame now.

No shame to be had. Look at it this way - when non-fans reference wrestling in conversations, they always refer to Hogan or the Rock. Cena never comes up as a go-to.

Haha. If there is one person who deserves bad luck and a financial loss it’s Vince McMahon. That dirtbag deserves it.

Yeah the gate is huge Ticket revenue last year was over 14 million dollars.
Its going to put a hole in things and the after wrestlemania cuts will be deeper.
Expect a huge push on network subscriptions.
Its going to be weird to watch.

Not sure if joking....
Wrestling is weird with no fans in attendance
I kind of feel like they should just film the next 3 weeks of shows right now and then show them on tape layer.
Why wait to do it live if Coronavirus takes off. Tape the next 3 weeks. Get everyone to quarantine until Wrestlemania and then do that live.

Weird Raw, they played the Rumble in its entirety, had a weird promo by Becky, then Stone Cold came out and laid and absolute stinker of a promo before stunning Saxton.
About the only thing good as Asuka doing color I peed my pants.
And now Becky comes out to glom off of Becky, come on Stone Cold stun Becky.
