The pet jumped up to say hello and for a quick snuggle. Kinda stinky ew. Then quickly left... but left a poop smear behind to remember them by. RGMG.

You're more likely to get screwed by the bank, though.

What a tragedy
https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/17-year-...dies-1.6972072
Accused was arrested in 2017 for a home invasion where he stabbed a husband and wife repeatedly.
I would love to know how he was already out of jail. Our justice system is such a joke. Poor girl lost her life for 0 reason.

I disagree.
I think it was remarkably foolish. Those keys are expensive!

Saw a young woman on an e-scooter get hit by a car today. It was not pleasant. There was a big van in front of me so I didn’t see much. My mom saw more than I did and was quite upset. I was the first person to pull over and ran over to make sure she was ok. Called 911 and ambulance showed up quite quickly.
The lady on the scooter was injured but thankfully nothing serious according to the rcmp. Driver seemed shook. Scooter lady was in the adjacent bike lane and driver was turning right into a parking lot. Road was very busy and he was in a small car with numerous large vehicles behind him. Obviously driver at fault but not even sure he was being particularly reckless, just couldn’t see her and with the speed those scooters travel I wouldn’t be surprised if he could even see her approach in his side mirror. She actually ran into him as he turned and she didn’t have time to slow down or stop. Unfortunate all around. But could have been a lot worse.
Honestly the location is not a particularly safe bike lane. It’s a single lane road with heavy, heavy traffic. It’s always been a fear of mine to hit a bike/scooter. They move pretty fast and visibility can be so limited by other vehicles and parked cars.

Out of curiosity, was the scooter-rider wearing a helmet?
I only ask because the brother-in-law of a former coworker cracked his noggin' after falling off a scooter without a helmet. Was in a coma for quite a while afterward; not sure how he's recovered.

She was not. It was tied to the handlebars.

Brutal man! Good you stopped, glad she's OK overall. Could've been much worse.
As a downtown resident, I'm always paranoid about this when I'm driving and turning off of bike lane roads, yeah some of those people just rip on those things.

I would read that as “a car got hit by an e-scooter today”. Hopefully the lesson learned was not too painful.

No. ####ing carbrained lunacy. You can certainly say that there are plenty of dead people out there who had the right of way, but the scooter absolutely had the right of way.
Most accurate would be: Driver steered their large metal box into the path of a fellow human's flesh and bones.

If she was behind the vehicle and the scooter hit the car would the driver actually be at fault?

If lady was in the bike lane, she absolutely had right of way over a car turning into her lane.

Replace scooter with vehicle and it's the same situation as if they turned left from the middle lane.

Yeah she definitely had the right of way. Wasn’t like he turned well in advance and she plowed into him on purpose. It was all in the blink of an eye. He turns a second earlier and maybe she barely misses him. Or he turns a second later and plows into her head on and it’s a fatality instead of some bruises, scrapes and a concussion.
I think it was a food delivery driver. He was turning into the moxies parking lot. Not that it’s relevant.

It sucks how many of the worst drivers on the road do it for a living.
