How would it feel to be Rachel Notley and lose to someone like you described? Ouch!

It is. It's now the realm of nutbars, populists and conspiracy theorists. But at least green libertarianism champions mother earth!

It would feel like you are living a live version of Idiocracy. Ya, it does hurt to know your fellow citizens are that dull.

Probably awful and defeating.
I think we all grew up sort of naïve and thinking the world will get better, good ideas beat out bad, collective interests should trump selfish interests, liars are bad, helping people is better than hurting people, those in need should be helped by those with more, etc. It has been tough for all of us - Notley included - seeing how strong and misguided the right wing was become. And the glee they take in it is the most distasteful part.
It really is difficult to accept, understand and keep motivated to try to improve things for people who just want to ruin everything.

I can appreciate those thoughts. It’s no conciliation but I feel the exact same way on a Federal level.

FWIW I was pleasantly surprised that you took a second to empathize with what Notley must feel.

Underestimating the traction far-right conservatism has right now. A tale as old as 2016.

Is it possible to talk about our provincial government without having to resort to a barb at the Feds whenever a valid criticism is levelled at the UCP? If you have no actual defense of the UCP, just say so. It would at least be honest, instead of this tired shtick all the time of “that’s what I think of the feds blah blah blah”.

I'd tell him to get to the hospital if that was the case, but the wait times are too long to bother.

There is no traction with it in Southern Ontario.
You can hate them all you want, but they are going to save Canadians this time around from the deplorables.

Premier Smith has made it clear that Ottawa isn't to work with Alberta cities without the permission of the province. This agreement between Fraser and Gondek is an explicit challenge to Smith. Will Smith change the Municipal Government Act to prevent those sort of collaboration?
