Anyone know a telus store that has any in stock? Need a 16GB, and prefer somewhere either on the westside or around sunridge if anyone knows a good store...

I assume you mean your shaw email used to work while on 3G since Wifi was the scenario I listed as it being able to work?
It can receive, but not send while on 3G I believe.
Which by my (technically incorrect) definition, means it doesn't work. What I should have said is that it only partially works.

As mentioned above, if using the carrier's SMTP server it will work to send mail over 3G, as detailed in the post above.

Ok, that makes sense.
According to Shaw/Telus, it just plain won't work.

Oh my. Those are awful. Why are they all so song-y? A new variation on a beep would be nice. That's all I ask for when it comes to my SMS alert.

All of the carriers have external SMTP servers, some just dont like to give it haha. Rogers and Fido have them preloaded on the iPhone with carrier settings, dont know about Bell and Telus. (although I know they both have em!)

WTF Apple. That is probably the stupidest thing Apple has done in as long as I can remember. It's actually infuriating that they're daft enough to think people want 3-5 second long, childish sounding text alerts. Freaking ######ed.

It only plays when the SMS app is closed. It goes off when someone sends you a txt while the phone is in your pocket. Once you open the SMS app to respond and are in the middle of the conversation, you won't hear it again.
Believe it or not, extended text tones have been fairly heavily requested. Also, it should be noted that these new tones are sectioned off into their own spot in the Settings app. They're not considered "normal" text tones. They are extended ones, for people (like me) who keep missing the short one-second normal tones when the phone is in their pocket. They're meant to "sort of" mimic ring tones.
I didn't quite clue in at first, but now I get what they're doing with them.
...and yes, I too wish they'd just add the ability to use custom text tones.

My god those SMS tones are terrible. Reason enough to keep my 3GS off of 4.2. Glad my full time phone is an Android phone I can do whatever I want with the sounds.

Jail breaking still scares me. I never did it with my 3G and I haven't tried with my 4. Why it scares me...I don't know.

Well the current JB is untethered for 4.1, for 4.2 will be tethered but the dude who makes the untethered exploits pretty much confirmed 4.2 should be ready soon after the GM release.
Unless you are on the beta, that is.
