How do you figure? Both Burmistov and Gagner are still fairly young, and the Canucks definitely need a goalie who can play +30 games while they transition to Maarkstrom as their starter.
The Canucks are going to be bad this year and for a few years to come, but they still have to ice an NHL roster.

Don't be surprised if UFA Patrick Sharp returns home to Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow. CGY, amongst others, had substantial interest.

Not overly excited about Sharp as others are. He is 35, had hip surgery and a couple of concussions. His health is concerning. Hopefully his cap hit and term are low.
With that being said, I fully acknowledge that having Sharp probably makes the Flames a better team.
At the very least, it is nice to see that Calgary is once again becoming an attractive market for players. That says a lot about the team and the direction they are headed in. It has been probably 10 years for that to happen. Post 2004 was glorious for a few seasons with this sort of excitement, and this off-season has so far been much more exciting than the last 6 or 7 off-seasons at least.

The nice thing about his age is that it makes him eligible for a one-year contract with a low base salary and lots of bonuses. If he'll take a deal like that, it doesn't matter so much if he flops.
