Too bad the young guys couldn't have gotten to another series. It would have been great for their development.
On the bright side, guys like Jankowski, Kylington, Andersson, etc. now have more time to recuperate and get ready for next season. It's a big off-season for the guys I mentioned and others.
Thanks to those guys who spend their time following the Heat and for embedding highlights.

Well, time for speculation about next year's lines, I whipped these up
Mangiapane-Pribyl-Poirier
Klimchuk-Vey-Smith
Lomberg-Aagaard-Carroll
Devane or equivalent-Angelidis-Frattin or equivalent
Bartkowski-Andersson
Kylington-Kostka or equivalent
Healey-Doetzel
Gillies/Rittich
Parsons
Assumptions:
Shinkaruk, Wotherspoon used as expansion tools to help Vegas take Brouwer
Jankowski in NHL
Kulak in NHL
One of Gillies/Rittich in NHLor traded to bring in an NHL goaltender
Poirier comes back
My main hope for next season is continued progression from Mangiapane, Kylington, and Andersson. All 3 should be pushing for a Flames spot by the end of next season. I want to see Pribyl have a healthy season and display the talent that allowed him to lead the Czech league in scoring just last year. I want to see Smith used in a top 6 role and be allowed to succeed because he has the talent to do so.

Glad these guys saw some postseason action. The way they played against the barracuda and looking t the shots differential wow.
Rittich hopefully is brought back as Gillies already has a contract doesn't he?
If at all possible I'd like to See Rittich looked at longer as he seems a little more seasoned than Gillies .
I hope exit Interviews are done with some urgency to these guys making the next step and challenging for roster spots .
I hate how the flames have experimented in the preseason and the Ptos given to guys to create competition. I think that fails And pisses off prospects.
Who does everyone think should be on the flames open ing roster.?
I am hoping Hathaway makes it full time as well as Freddie Hamilton.
On defence I think Andersson needs more seasoning and needs to come into camp shaking the rep of Fatmus.....
I wonder if guys like Eetu make it next year and make an impact.
Hearing rumblings about Huska not being very popular and wonder about his return as well.

Looking ahead I can see Jankowski taking F. Hamilton's roster spot. I don't think Gillies is ready for the full time backup spot though and Mangiapane could surprise.

Jankowski will not be making the team as an extra forward, that is terrible for his development.

That depends on how you look at it. For me it's a roster spot that should be open. If he only plays Freddie's 26 games, yeah send him down but he should be able to develop it into say 50 games, than keep him.

Then that would be more like taking the roster spot of either Versteeg, whoever is claimed by Vegas or the spot of someone traded. Hamilton is a perfect fit for a guy to play 25-40 games and will still fill that role again next season.
I would be really disappointed if Jankowski is not a regular for the Flames next year. I may be overstating expectations, but with all things being equal (health-wise, no big acquisitions at the forward position), I think Jankowski needs really push to be a regular next year.
Other teams seem to be able to fit young guys on their roster, I hope the Flames give Janko a FULL opportunity and then some to make the team and play regularly.
