She was wrong to dismiss the case, of course. It will be appealed, she might even be punted from her job eventually for a ruling that is blatantly wrong.

But that's not the point of this. Of course Trump is guilty, everybody knows that before a trial has even started. The entire point of dismissing this case is to delay, delay, delay.......kick the can down the road and worry about anything after the election.

If the justice system in your country isn't about finding out the truth and punishing those that break laws, but rather is now set up to protect certain political figures regardless if they broke the law or not.....your country is broken.

Here we are. And the U.S. is going to be much worse if/when Trump wins in November. Much, much, much worse. This kind of stuff is just the beginning.

Obviously a lot more information will come out of exactly what happened once the investigation is done, but I think given the footage that has been released it sure doesn't look good for the Secret Service.

There are now videos coming out that are overlapped with Trump speaking and people videoing the shooter that show almost 2 min between people identifying the fact that there is a person with a gun on a building until the shot is made. I'm sorry, but if that actually is true, and the videos are not 100% verified, but that is major, major incompetence. At the very least, Trump should have been taken away. Plus the fact that there was literally a counter sniper team there, the shooter was within a few hundred yards, people were literally taking video of him, and there was zero response?

What a gong show.

Everyone can call it whatever they want, but absolutely brutal. Now makes you wonder about the protection of any high ranking US officials & past Presidents.

I heard on a Fox News clip (I know, I know), that a cop actually went on top of the roof and when he poked his head up the shooter pointed the rifle at him whereupon the cop went back down for cover and get backup.... It seems probably farfetched to me, but after Uvalde.... well... who knows.

Yeah, there's a chance of that too.

I think last time, Trump went with the establishment pick. A career politician with a strong Christian background. Mike Pence, for all his faults, when it came down to following decorum and democratic order, he at least followed through.

This time I think Trump is going to go with someone he knows will back him up no matter what. If it is JD Vance, it makes total sense. The guy represents the core of MAGA. To be honest and objective, and leaving politics out of it, his back story is interesting. When someone writes a book about themselves, you don't know what is myth and what is accurate though.

In fairness, peering over a building roof from a ladder probably isn't the best vantage to get into a fire fight.

I was reading in the news today, the people on the Christian right are saying the assassination attempt proves that Trump is divinely appointed and wears the "armor of Christ" or something like that. Apparently there are passages in the bible that reference such a thing and rulers who are righteous get it, or something like that. Pretty weird.

I obviously don't believe in nonsense like that, but considering how strong the Christian right is in the U.S., if that is a widespread belief, it scares the heck out of me.

The Republicans and Democrats kind of flipped sides somewhere in the 1800s. Republicans were the Lincoln freeing slaves back in the day. The civil rights act wss republican and the dems opposed it. So most of those twenty are right wing.
