I guess this is a pretty cynical conversation to have because overall just a tragedy. But if America thinks they are gonna march an army into Venezuela and take all of their oil on the cheap to stop buying oil from others, they have truly missed the lessons of the past 35 years of conflicts in Iraq / Syria that they have delved themselves into.

Venezuela still exports about 800,000 barrels per day primarily to Asia, and the impact on Alberta if the US creates turbulence there might not direct, and it might not be big. But overall there likely could be upward macro-economic pressure on oil prices in the short term, with a big dumb army blowing up a failed oil state.
