I'm surprised he is not Coner McBroken yet? After watching his wreckless play in the first handful of games, I gave him until mid Nov. to be injured.

Another dominating effort by the Oilers. Wow, didn't see that coming.
McDavid with 2 god-son-like assists. Well on his way to winning the Vezina.
Will this team ever lose again with the way they're playing??

Sorry, that was a bit much haha. It's just one of those days where Flames suck, Oilers blowout a team, and hell freezes over.

If he wins the Vezina, I will bring back a long-dead tradition around here and eat somebody's pubes. Anybody's.

Just glanced at the projected protected list for the expansion draft. After all these years of drafting high and rebuilding, deadmonton's protected list includes.....drum roll.......Pitlick, Kassian, and Moron. Davidson and Reinhart are to be exposed. Comedy.

Wait, what? Have you seen their numbers and cap hits? Value contracts for sure, imo.

This isn’t an attempt to get into an analytics debate, just a stat: Oilers are on the verge of being 9-3-1 with Kris Russell in the lineup.
|
Hopefully he keeps it up long enough to get that 5x5M he wanted last year.

Well Chia went to the Chia school of negotiating so more like Russell will get the Chia bonus of 6x6
And if Russell signs now he'll get a set of sweat pants absolutely free.

Russell has been a great signing for the Oilers. Couldn't be happier with his play, and he was sorely missed during the 5 game losing streak when he was out.
Didn't know what to expect out of him, but he's stabilized the 3-4 D position playing with Sekera.
This gif below from when he destroyed a Hawks forward yesterday is how I feel about his play, especially when all I heard is how he's advanced stats aren't impressive, etc. He moves the puck out of the zone better than I expected, and is a force at blocking shots like I had heard.

Like 2 weeks ago the hockey world was ragging on Russell being his usual pylon self, and now a couple games later and he's back to being a top 4 defenceman?
Russell is awful and not the reason for any team's success right now. Would love a contract extension in Edmonton.

Who was ragging on Russell being his usual pylon self exactly? He was out during the Oilers 5 game losing streak, and we've won both games since he's been back. You're just making stuff up now. I haven't watched him enough to know if he'll continue playing at his current pace for the rest of the year, but so far he's been more than solid.

Before he was injured, he stopped producing offensively, and considering he is a defensive black hole, he's doing nothing else then.
Lots of the advanced stats guys on Twitter were pumping their chests and saying "told ya so".
But it is truly wonderful to see Oilers fans fall for this

He's +6 so far this year, and is -2 in his career. Again, not sure where you're getting a defensive black hole. I'll just stop right now because I feel you're just talking nonsense.

I never said it was a tell all stat. But it still says more than you simply stating he's a defensive black hole while not backing it up at all.

Going back to the McDavid discussion, he may get a lot of breakaways but he certainly doesn't score on many of them.
