There's no way Fiorina is going to stand up when people can focus on her and expose her for the disaster of a CEO she was at HP. Bush is going to come straight up the middle ... which is hilarious, and terrifying.

It's going to be Bush vs. Clinton, I doubt the plutocracy in the US would have it any other way

GOP is bordering on absurd at this point. Proud Catholic Congressmen Paul Gosar is going to boycott the Pope's visit because the Pope "may" talk about climate change. Good fricking grief.

Quote:
Republican Catholic Congressman Paul Gosar announced that he will boycott Pope Francis’ Thursday speech to Congress because the pope may talk about climate change. As he writes in Time, he was super psyched to hear Francis talk about the persecution of Christian minorities in the Middle East, the “enslavement, belittlement, rape and desecration of Christian women and children,” and the “condoned, subsidized, intentionally planned genocide of unborn children by Planned Parenthood.”

But, to his eternal disappointment, Francis reportedly “instead intends to focus the brunt of his speech on climate change—a climate that has been changing since first created in Genesis.” Even worse, according to Gosar, is the fact that “this climate change talk has adopted all of the socialist talking points, wrapped false science and ideology into ‘climate justice’ and is being presented to guilt people into leftist policies.”

Odd as the Catholic Church has never really had a vehement stand against evolution.

Isn't a very good Catholic is he. He's going to ignore the moral authority of Christ on Earth just because he disagrees with the Pope on a single issue? One that happens to fly in the face of accepted Catholic doctrine, science and the Pope himself.

As the other poster said, the GOP has become ridiculous. The Pope is saying we need to take care of the earth, and a CATHOLIC politician will boycott him for that? America I guess.

I guess all the wind and solar farms in California are bad for the environment Mr Politician?

It's just another indication of who rings the bell for these people. Money over everything, even their "precious faith".

To me it takes a particular brand of crazy for a person to boycott because a particular topic "might" be brought up in a speech. So you'd rather not listen to any opinion other than your own ignoring sound science and morality while raising a huge public stink about it? Good grief.

The next debate is on FOX Business, so I wonder if that counts...

Here's an article Nate Silver did a month ago on Trump pitting himself against the GOP, and why it's an awful idea.

Quote:
Donald Trump is a master at playing off the public’s distrust for the news media, portraying every negative story as a needless distraction from his quest to “Make America Great Again.” You’d think this strategy would become tiresome, but there’s a market for it, especially among Republicans, who are more distrustful of the mainstream media than Democrats.

But one exception to this distrust is Fox News, which hosted the first GOP debate in Cleveland last night. According to a March Quinnipiac poll, 80 percent of Republicans say they trust Fox News either “a great deal” or “somewhat,” as compared to 16 percent who say they trust the network “not so much” or “not at all.” Those numbers are almost identical to the high marks Democrats give MSNBC and the other news networks.

Sheppard Smith still the only reasonable voice over at Fox News.

The conservative message board I've been trolling for the last decade is absolutely tearing itself apart over Trump.

I've seen 'purges' at this place before, first Giuliani supporters, then McCain (until he added Palin to the ticket) then Romney (until he became the nominee and it became more important to beat Obama) but I've never seen anything like Trump.

There are very, very conservative people who hate him and what he's doing and others who clearly are simply angry and happy someone is expressing anger because they can identify with that, but on the whole, the ultra-right has no idea what to do with Trump, they're just glad that it seems like someone on 'their' side is getting press.

It didn't even take 24 hours for FOX to cave on Trump. Would any other candidate in history get his kind of kid gloves treatment from a network news head?

Quote:
The Trump feud with Fox News has entered its déjà vu phase.

After a day of feisty back and forth between the real estate mogul and the cable news network on Wednesday, Donald J. Trump and Roger Ailes, the network’s chairman and chief executive, spoke on the phone Thursday morning, the network said in a statement, and “plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign.”

“Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives,” the network said. “Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. Fox News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.”

If the situation sounds familiar, that’s because it is. After the first Republican debate last month, hosted by Fox News, Mr. Trump lashed out at the network and one of the debate moderators, Megyn Kelly, for what he said were unfair questions.

But shortly after, Mr. Ailes and Mr. Trump spoke on the phone and seemed to smooth over their differences.

Trump and Fox are in a mutually beneficial relationship.

This is political theatre.

If Trump starts to campaign like he is a legitimate candidate you will watch them tear him to shreds.

As it stands right now, he is playing the part he auditioned for beautifully.

"Let's meet up so we can both decide how to make you look better!"

The role of news is getting pretty warped.

So the top 3 GOp candidates in the polls right now are:

1) Trump - numbers falling some but Trust him he knows what will make the country great again. He came out with a new tax plan that, just trust him, is better than the current tax code though it has been called vague and fantasy. He can deal with terrorists, just trust him. I didn't hear that guy say the problem is Muslims and the Muslim who is currently president. Trust him he didn't hear that.

2) Carson - Vaccination science is clear! oooo I don't believe in climate change science. Muslims shouldn't be president. He is also perhaps the most boring person in the world to listen to.

3) Fiorina - She's O.K. with waterboarding.

These three will not be around in the end you'd hope but there really isn't anything palatable behind them either.
