I would expect Gaviglio and Waguespack to be sent back to the alternate training site in Rochester.
The emergence of Merryweather, Hatch, Kay, Borucki, Romano, Dolis and Cole (1.2WAR!!) has been the most encouraging development for me this season. A lot of those guys are under club control for the next 3 years.

Yamaguchi has been stellar since his 1st two outings as well. There are so many it's hard to remember them all sometimes. EVen SRF has looked decent in his two relief appearances.

Drury and Gaviglio DFA'd
Hopefully the last we see of either of them in a Jays uniform. As the team improves, there needs to be less and less of these types of guys around.

I didn't take into consideration the two years of control with Stripling which would significantly bump up his price. I wonder who the solid prospect will be. I am thinking we will see someone near the top 10, maybe a Miguel Hiraldo, go the other way. I really hope it's not Kloffenstein.
EDIT: It's Kendall Williams as the pitching prospect going to the Dodgers, Law has him as our 15th prospect, MLB Pipeline has him at #13, but he's a legit young pitcher.
|
I did like Williams but that's a fine return if they get the Stripling of the last few seasons.

PTBNL for Taijuan Walker is GCL player and turning 20 in October, Alberto Rodriguez, I have never heard of him to be honest.

When you start to look at the starting pitching, you start to wonder where Roark fits in all this.
Ryu
Walker
Anderson
Stripling
Roark
He's 4th or 5th I guess, but if Ray finds his groove in short order suddenly Roark is on the bubble, plus if Shoemaker comes back that's another guy.
I also love the Merryweather piggy back start too, although it's just happened once I guess. We'll see tonight, as apparently Merryweather starts and Ray will follow him in another piggy back start.
I guess Roark being pushed down the depth chart is a good thing, but you start to wish he wasn't on the books for another $12 million next year haha.
Pearson i don't see starting again this year. My bet is they use him out of the bullpen for the remainder after he comes back. Merryweather not likely to be stretched right out either until next season.
Nice to have some options though that don't include Waguespack, Gavilglio or Zeuch starting games anymore.

It's also good to note we have at least 2 more double headers too.

Yeah, I read somewhere that Stripling is scheduled to start one of the games in an upcoming double header.

Just spitballin on next years rotation here:
1. Ryu (signed)
2. Roark (signed)
3. Anderson (team option)
4. Stripling (signed)
5. Merryweather (probably stretched out)
6. Pearson
7. Thornton
8. Kay (possibly stretched out)
9. Hatch (possibly stretched out)
You'd think they'd want to try to re-sign Walker given that he's only 27 and maybe even Ray if they can help him regain his form as he's a lefty K machine and just 28.
Crazy how quickly Shatkins built up the starting pitching depth, and makes you wonder what in the hell is wrong with the Angels front office that they can't do that over the last 10 years.

Don’t like how Teo isn’t in the starting lineup tonight. He’s been the most consistent producer for the Jays and they can’t afford to waste many at bats going forward.

Ties Drury in his 1st at bat lol
Also, Merryweather is just filthy and disgusting. I hope that guy is for real because he is really getting my hopes up.
