If the Flames are looking to trade for 1st round picks I would hope it's for the 2026 draft which is going to be better than the 2025 which is shaping up to be below average.

If it's Buffalos pick it has a good chance of being in the lottery as well.

I would love to get Helenius. They need a better culture.

Coleman + Anderson + 2nd + prospect (Kuzmenko, Poirier, Pelletier...) for
Helenius + 1st

Take out our 2nd and prospect or Kuzmenko and we might have a deal.

Coleman might get you a 1st on his own. Kuzmenko gets you a 3rd at least.

Have to think that any trade with Buffalo that involves one of our larger trade chips is going to involve Cozens

To Buf
Coleman + Anderson

To CGY
Cozens + Kulich

Add small pieces where need be.

Yeah, we are taking all the risk with that boat anchor contract. Think back to Dion Phaneuf, he peaked in his 3rd year when he signed his massive deal.

We really don't have a spot for another underperforming $7M player signed long term. Don't care about age like I said, he could has peaked and his showing massive regression. Did he even play on Saturday?

THe other players have bounced back, he has not.

BUF are trying to get better immediately, and I don’t see how they can do that if they trade their #2C. I just don’t see how Cozens is in play.

But they’re tired of rebuilding, so all of their prospects are likely in play. The prize there is Helenius, with Ostlund a notch below.

So I could see a deal built around Andersson for Helenius or Coleman for Ostlund working for both teams. BUF has lots of cap, so no need for a roster player coming back (though they might want to move Clifford out to free up cap for another big deal).

I think for Coleman to waive it has to be a clear-cut contender, not a team that has missed the playoffs the last 12 years and on track to miss again.

Him and his family love Banff, and also Calgary. For him to uproot his family, I just can't see it being Buffalo.

Good grief that is absolutely terrible for Calgary.

I wonder what the chances are that Jack Quinn bounces back? He was once considered to be one of the league’s top prospects. I wouldn’t mind snagging him, and giving him a new lease on life…

I think Helenius will be tough to pry out because he's somewhat different from the others they have. They have a glut of under-sized skilled forwards, and likely will want to trade from that position, just as they did with Savoie.

I think they would LOVE to trade guys like Kisakov or Nuechev.
The next tier would be Rosen, Ostlund.
And then the tougher to get tier Helenius and Kulich.

Rosen might be a good get. He’s listed at 6’0” these days, where I believe he was 5’10” when he was drafted. He’s got everything you want in an offensive forward, with skill, speed, high vision, and a good shot. 13 points in 11 AHL games so far this season.

He only played 27 games last season and I don't see a record of him having AHL stats last year. Injury, I assume? I don't remember this guy. 8th overall.

Yeah serious injuries the last few years.

Helenius is a minimum inclusion for andersson. Buffalo can get ####ed.

The flames NEED to get value out of these guys. For once in our lives.

The Lindholm and Toffoli trades happen to jump to mind of at least two examples of the Flames getting value out of trades for their players. Both guys were also examples of players wanting out.

Unless Anderson wants out, I’d be surprised if he’s traded, especially this year.

OK but the GM has to function in the real world, where the other team has a say in what they are willing to give up.
I agree that the Flames don't need to be in a rush to trade Andersson, but the deadline this year is probably the optimal point.

Fans get tunnel vision on certain players, often that are not in reach.

If Helenius is not on the table, that doesn't mean their isn't still a reasonable deal to be had.
