Yeah, I'm curious as to what the Jays should have done differently to get a better off season "grade" lol
Other than Ohtani the free agent group this off season is brutal, and no way they should have given up what the Padres were asking for 1 year of Soto.

They could have improved the team. They haven’t. A D is accurate.

They’ve signed guys but they haven’t made the team better.
At best it’s a C.

Well it's easy to sit here as a fan and say that. We have no idea what trades are possible or what the FA's are wanting with their demands or if certain FA's are even willing to come to TO.
For all we know the Jays should be getting an A+ just for steering clear of terrible trade offers or bad FA contracts.

Figured Teo would get a multi year deal somewhere.
Smart move by him as a big year with the Dodgers might result in a much more lucrative deal next off season.

I just don’t think the Jays have done anything to deserve praise. They haven’t improved the offence. That was the problem last season and they haven’t done anything to improve that. Sure they were after Ohtani but he didn’t sign. Their new plan is essentially reshuffling the deck chairs.
The D grade is accurate.

The Dodgers also doing the partial deferral game for Teo as well. Do they know what they’re getting with him? I can’t wait to see them implode.

I haven't seen any praise. I just see some guy giving them a D when the off season isn't even over yet, and the options for improvement are severely limited it would seem.
You keep saying they should do something to improve the offense, but can't provide any examples of what they should do.
The only sure bet for offense in free agency was Ohtani and we all know what happened there. And the only sure bet bat I've seen traded was Soto and the Jays shouldn't be subtracting from other parts of their roster to bring in Soto for one year.
Bellinger is a potential help offensively but he's a massive risk. You give him $200 million and then end up with OF/1B version of Kris Bryant.

If you want to see offensive improvement the Jays best bet is to have Vladdy and Kirk get in shape, stay in shape and remember how to hit.

Implode? In the playoffs? They are probably going to win 110 games next year.

It’s an interim grade. They can improve it if they improve the team.

Well, hopefully they sign a DH soon.
But whoever it is also won't be some sure thing either. The pickings are slim.
Maybe Atkins can build some sort of AI robot that can improve the team and appease the disgruntled masses.

LA is sure putting together a roster that if it all works can be a force to remember. But I think that's a big if. Ohtani's health, Yamamoto's inexperience, Teo's inconsistencies and lack of defense, and Glasnows health. All for like 150 million. Yeesh. This is a big gamble.
And you have to think they're pissing off a lot of execs along the way with all the deferrals. Likely not doing themselves any favours on the trade market and I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes to the CBA next negotiations.

Good signing for Teo, was probably getting 2x18 offers and took the higher guarantee for the 1 year to pump his numbers up.
He’ll have a great season in LA

Yeah, but they won 100 games last season without any of Ohtani, Glasnow, Yamamoto, etc
Even if all those players miss on their projections the Dodgers are probably still a 100 win team.

^ I'd agree with a C. They really didn't get any better. You could argue they got worse. But they didnt make any desperate moves that could hurt the team down the road.
I guess if anything but Improving the team is a fail, then ya it was a fail.

The Twins lost pretty much a full rotation of starting pitching and iirc haven't added anything of note. How could the Jays be worse than that? They're pretty much coming back the same as last year and they were a decent team last year. There are some teams that will be worse next year (Twins and Angels both come to mind).
