I also expect that this will be a historic inauguration due to the amount of gun play.

That horrible, evil POS, has stoked the fires so hard, America has gone backwards 50 years. It has so much momentum now, I don't even know if America ever recovers. I expect a new unofficial Confederate Army to pop up and I expect more violence and carnage before the inauguration.
It's not as much Trump I hold responsible, as this was predictable when he was elected. It was obvious to anyone with a brain, he was a racist, power hungry conman. I more blame these Jock Sniffers, only now taking the high road, that leveraged the adoration these crazy lunatic racists had for Trump, for personal and political gain. They should have kicked him to the curb after the "Grab em" comments, and hitched their wagon to a different candidate.
He was enabled, coddled, and worshipped by these repulsive GOP members, and it cost them a country. What is left, is not the United States. It is some perverted, disgusting, alternate reality of it.
Mcconnell, Cruz, Rubio, Graham, McCarthy, Conway....and about 500 others, should all be held personally accountable, and made to pay the harshest price the law allows, for turning a blind eye, and letting everything unravel.

I think those of you expecting to see serious jail time for the offenders are going to be severely disappointed. So far it looks like the charges are just a bunch of federal misdemeanors.

He added: “MINIMUM TEN YEARS IN PRISON. Don’t Do it.”

I think there’s a fairly big push to get these people identified, charged and with conditions before inauguration for compliance/intel purposes. I would imagine there’s a lot more charges to come against the same individuals in the near future. Possibly also to avoid a presumptive blanket pardon from Trump since it’s all federal.

This has been discussed here before, but the idea is that you charge people with easy-to-prove crimes like being inside a restricted area; literally all you need for that is a security cam photo. More complex crimes to prove crimes that involve motive, conspiracy, etc. will inevitably take more time to sort out, but the important thing right now is to sweep up as many people who were involved inside the capitol as possible, rather than worrying about maximum charges. DC prosecutors are also trying to do this in a way where Trump won't be able to simply blanket pardon everyone, and that will require cooperation between DC and Maryland prosecutors' offices.
Not saying that we will get satisfactory charges for all of these people, but you shouldn't be drawing any conclusions from the charges pressed so far.

And, having worked in a jail, you dont get to actually keep it no matter how well behaved you are, the guy that gets to sit by the window, who gets the front row by the TV and controls the remote control, he gets your fruit cocktail and anything else he wants of yours as well.

I believe that all these are supposed to be considered federal crimes because they occurred on restricted grounds. In theory criminal trespass in the Capital Building will result in federal charges compared to unlawful entry into a local Walmart.
Which was why Trump put out that tweet in the first place, as a cover to deploy the national guard to protect Federal Buildings under the threat of federal charges...
That said, I could be wrong; I think those carrying firearms into a restricted area ought to be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows

They're federal crimes, but they're federal misdemeanors. I'll get a bit more optimistic if felony charges start to come in.

No way they file any of the felony charges until after inauguration.
Why waste the good work it takes building a case just so a malcontent leader can undo it?

GoFundMe banning all Trump rally related travel funding campaigns. How will all these NoFlyList-ers go home now? Waiting for Greyhound and other bus companies to ban them too.

Its only been 5 days....they have a LOT of footage and investigating to do.
Arrest them as you identify them and have the evidence to convict. In the mean time you see if you can get them to start talking which the helps your investigation that much more.
It will happen.

The acting U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Michael Sherwin, says "hundreds" of people may ultimately face charges related to the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, which interrupted a session of Congress and left five people dead.
He says there's likely to be a wide array of criminal charges, ranging from destruction of federal property to murder. He also expects to find evidence of coordination among at least some of the rioters.
