Great first impression.

Lot's of swagger, energy and a presence that GG never had.

Hopefully that's the shot in the arm this team needs.

I had never heard it before either, but I'm going to remember it. Catchy.
Ya that's how I see it. He did the same as Gulutzan with a worse team, internal cap, terrible goaltending, and in the best division.

That's the truth. No deposits or withdrawls from emotional bank accounts.. Instant upgrade from respective first impressions.

If Glen Gulutzan is Brian Elliott, then Bill Peters is Mike Smith. Older, more confident, less mentally fragile.

I wouldn't get worked up over his comments about not looking at any other couches. That could very easily be a blatant lie. Darryl Sutter is no different than the Flames and how they handle rumors. They are tight lipped. I doubt Darryl would want everyone knowing that he was interviewed and didn't' get the job. Likewise for any other coach. Nobody wants it out there that they failed to get it. Not to mention, it just adds more pressure on BT. If he says, yeah I interviewed both DS and AV and I went with BP... Everyone will always hold him to, well you picked the wrong guy.

I really felt BP hit the good points. I want an identity for the Flames, active D and hard speedy fore checking. If all the words out of his mouth are true, looks like that will all be addressed.

Hopefully this means we sign Derek Ryan. I've wanted him here for a while

Will be interesting to see where he puts Brodie (if he doesn’t get traded).
He made mention to the fact that Brodie had a very strong season when he played on the right side

Makes me wonder if Treliving wanted to hire him back in 2016, and only went with Gulutzan because Peters was going to stay in Carolina. The timing of events roughly lines up (world cup together in May, Gulutzan hired in early June). That would also explain the seeming lack of a search if they had already done the research two years ago.

Yes. That was important for me to hear too because I thought that was definitely a mistake. He destroyed a goalie lacking confidence.

I also liked how he emphasized relationships.

Process Pat S lmao. There was no process, Treliving locked in on Peters, didn't expand his search, didn't interview anyone that it end if story.

I was going to make this comp as well. Add to it almost universal fan let-down in the acquisition, only to have that turn around once the season starts.

I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, dude sounds like a real leader of men unlike beige-y GG.

I like the talk, I'm really looking forward to seeing the walk. I wish I could be at the first team meeting this fall.

For those keeping score, Gio was sitting on the left hand side, Brodie -- naturally -- was on the right.

Just saying.

I also believe that having lowered expectations in this fan base is going to be a great thing. As long as the team doesn't pump its own tires like saying they're a 100 point team is going to do a lot.

I for hope they push for a playoff spot. Whatever happens after is gravy and fun times.

What are the profiles that Treliving likes? I'm just curious what makes Peters so the ideal guy - not saying he isn't but what does he like?

How do his teams play?
What's Treliving profile?
What kind of team are we going to get - play style?

Is it awkward that Stone wasn't mentioned when he's sitting right there?

I like how Tre always talks about "The Process". No wonder! Hiring a head coach is a one-step "process". This whole Process thing is easy!
