So who are you rooting for in this Sweden v. Europe semi-final? Maybe Sweden because it's a real country? Maybe Team Europe because one day we might look back and say "What the hell was Team Europe?".

I wonder why they are playing so early. There's also a Blue Jays game starting right now, and obviously NFL. They'd get more viewers if they played tonight I'd think.

It's 7 PM in Sweden now. Probably trying to get more international viewers.

The Oilers could really use a coach like Ralph Krueger.

Can we name Canada winners now please? This game is a sloppy snooze fest. The Sedins are washed up.

The TV audience for that game is in Europe.

I'm rooting for Team Europe. Lots of guys that don't normally get a chance to succeed in this type of a tournament.

And of course as a Finn I'm just generally against Sweden

(Not very seriously though. Mostly I'm against Russia because F Russia, and then against Canada because it'd just be nice if they didn't win all the time.)

I'm a bit torn: One one hand, Sweden has the most potential to make the final series competitive, but on the other hand their strategy of sitting back and playing conservatively makes for terrible hockey and Sune was insufferable in this thread so Sweden losing to a non-country, non-powerhouse would amuse me greatly

The Canadad Russia hockey rivalry is fading quickly. Russia just not an elite power on the world stage anymore. Still a dangerous team but nothing compared to teh past.

The Canada Soviet rivalry will be hard to replicate. Not just the old old Canada Cup's, but the Red Army and Dynamo teams that would come here and play NHL teams. Growing up, thiose games meant almost as much as the playoffs. It was fantastic hockey played in the middle of the season. I remember some of those games vividly.

Instead of a European team, how about a former Soviet Bloc team at the next World Cup.

Karlsson ties it with 4:30 left. Eriksson maybe with the tip.

Both understandable. So in a Sweden/Canada final, who would you root for?

So with under 10 seconds left, Henrik Sedin lifts a stick, and is in alone on the goalie with a Team Europe player to his left, and decides to try to pass it past that guy to Daniel for an open net winner. However, Alex Bellemare makes a great play lunging back with his stick to break up the pass.

Here's the twist: the Team Europe player who was back? Jannik Hansen. How much do you want to bet he's yelling "PASS! HE'S GOING TO PASS!" once he sees it's Henrik in alone on goal?

Anyway it's nice to see this going to OT.

Sweet!!!

Tatar wins it on OT for Team Europe.

Is there anyone that had TE ranked anything higher than 8th in this tournament?

Think we'll see Sune post again before the next World Championships?

Canada is favoured but if Europe wins, do they still not get invited back? You can't not bring back the defending champs can you?
