The Marda Loop location was owned by a different owner, that at one point separated from the rest of the ownership group. He chose to keep the Nellie's name initially, but when the health concerns came up - it really hurt his business.
But good riddance to the 17th Ave location. No one should feel sad for a business that didn't uphold basic health standards.

The Marda-loop one was the best in the bunch by far and they never had issues with cleanliness. It was our go to as well.

I'd say about 75% of the outlets in the Market Mall Food Court are open again, and there is no way to tell if the others are ever coming back. Taco Time is shuttered.

Thanks, but I am ok with delivered pizza or basic Chinese; not so much with higher end food 30 minutes later. I will just have to wait for the re-open.
For the 90th Ave/14th-24th Street area, if anyone cares, Purlieu is not opening for dine-in yet and the 1600 Bier Haus is open at half capacity.

That's the one.
Best thin crust ever. Absolutely delicious. I make the trip from the deep south for it as a treat.

Noticed the building across the street from the current Shiki Menya in Bridgeland has been under renovation and there is a big Shiki Menya sign on it. Looks to be way larger than the current location which annoyingly constricts their daily supply. I'm hopeful you'll actually be able to walk in and eat a bowl of ramen without signing up for a waitlist or missing out completely.

I tried Hi-Ball in Montgomery today for the first time. It is a pretty solid Chinese restaurant and exceptional value for your money. It was probably the best value I have seen at a Chinese restaurant. The chicken balls, which I don't usually get but bought for my kids, were really good because they were actually big pieces of chicken with a light and crispy batter instead of a traditional small nugget surrounding by a big doughy mass. The ginger beef was solid but was a little too sweet and not spicy enough. I asked for extra spicy and there was no heat at all.

A little late to the party, but had Connie & John's pizza on Friday. Overall, you get what you came for with that pepperoni pizza, we couldn't finish this thing off. I dont think I'll need pepperoni for a good couple of weeks.
On the downside, we ordered days in advance and drove from Anderson. 20 minutes before the pickup time we get a msg that its ready as we're just getting onto Deerfoot... So by the time we get the pizza and start to eat, the middle is complete mush, there is no traditional single fold of the pizza, its now like a four flap box.
But the dough was good and I'd try it again with different toppings and ensure we could at least eat it once its ready.

This is what happened with Bar von der Fels. I really enjoy it, but take out was a let down. I get I could have reheated it in the oven, but some stuff doesn’t reheat well. I also only live 10 mins from them.
I did find workshop food reheated better, but the food was more stew, rice and soup dishes. Anything fried is mush by the time I get home.
One of the reasons I have not done Purleau. I love Hawaiian food, but 25 mins home the food will be leftovers.

Vlad, the solution is to rent a room at Westin or Sheraton, and have Workshop deliver to your honeymoon suite.

That’s a great idea. Have a “staycation” and help the tourism industry that’s hurting right now.

This is a great idea.
My anniversary is end July, we usually sneak away for a few days out of town. This might be a better option and help YYC.

That is a good idea. I will see if the Palliser is open too. Let's see what Mrs. Impaler says.

We had Chicken on the Way this weekend. I dislike how hit or miss it is at times. Like, most of it was good, but 6 pieces were enormous. The skin to meat ratio was all messed up.
I also have no idea how to word Chicken on the Way reviews to avoid sounding pervy.

When you're done with the legs and thighs you have a greasy box to put your bone into? Nope...nothing out of the ordinary there, just describing the situation!
