c'mon we all know that Jar Jar is the Sith Lord behind everything, and spoiler alert, he discovered the secret to Immortality that Palpatine was so desperate to get.

Has anyone read 'Lost Stars' yet? Got it from a family member and just finished it this morning. Actually the first Star Wars novel I've read since the Kevin J. Anderson trilogy with the Sun Crusher. Wasn't amazing, but it was a good read and got me invested in a couple of new characters, it also bridges some of the time from RotJ to the Force Awakens.

Basically just the Aftermath book that has been released so far. Though it looks like a couple will be released around the movie.
Just finished Aftermath, while it wasn't the worst Star Wars book written (I reserve that for the one with the meat slab villain) it was close. So badly written.

Just couldn't get past it being written in present tense hey?

That and there were too many characters in it. Mister Bones was as annoying as Jar Jar, on top of that they kept changing characters names as suddenly Admiral Sloan went to Rae and then back.
They fell into the same Star Wars habit where the Empire was staffed by idiotic goons and the rebels were all supermen who couldn't die.
At the end of the day, this was supposed to be the first book of a trilogy where the New Order rises from the ashes of the old empire, but the same crap happened where the Empire lost ships and battles.
It was disappointing, When I look at the EU or legends series, the strong books really stood out. The old republic books with Bane, the Plageius book, the trilogy of books that included Dark Lord were all awesome, but this book was around the level of the Fate of the Jedi series which was trash.

Are you planning on reading Lost Stars?

Possibly I always cringe at the ideas of the young adult book stuff because its all fluffy and cute and written for teenagers, like that Harry Potter kid.

It's not bad Captain, give it a read. It gives some good Imperial perspective too.
I saw Aftermath at Costco and I held off buying it so I could come to this thread and ask about it. Glad that I did. I would however like to get into this space. I know it has been talked about in other threads, but top of your head which series would be the best to read that has some sort of tie to the existing movie universe.

There's some interesting interludes in the book in terms of Solo, Darth Vader's lightsabre and Boba Fett that are worth knowing about because they give hints to the future that takes place 30 years down the road in the movies.

I wish Aftermath was written at the Harry Potter level. Harry Potter is multiple orders of magnitude better than Aftermath.
