Haha great game by Newcastle. A bit of a slowish start but once Barton hammered that shot the Magpies took off. The atmosphere and SJP looked awesome!

That was a great result, and Andy Carroll looks like the real thing, hes quality.

Of course, the media still cant get off Joey Barton's back. Unreal.

Quote:
Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton has rejected accusations that he celebrated his goal in Sunday's 6-0 victory over Aston Villa with a Nazi-style salute.

Barton opened the scoring for the Magpies with an excellent effort at St James' Park and after celebrating with his team-mates raised his right hand to his lip and his left arm straight up in the air.

Yes. Joey Barton did a Nazi salute. Of course he did. Because hes a Nazi. Or are you just really, really, reaching?

Some fun at Spurs' expense:

Young Boys 2-0 Tottenham... Perhaps Spurs could play some Younger Boys next time?

Spurs giving Young Boys a right pounding following half-time breather

Young Boys couldn't keep it up - Pavlyuchenko scores a blinder: 3-2

Well, as the man said, Young Boys rarely keep clean sheets

Joe Hart having another great game today. Shame that England didn't have a keeper of his caliber on their World Cup squad...

I dont remember this many blowouts in a whole season yet alone this early.

Is th egap in the EPL getting too big?

I wouldnt expect this result from Liverpool vs Man City

Liverpool didnt come to play. That was a pretty sorry performance. Torres was horrible.

In the end though, City are now, what? a £300M team?

Considering that two of the three recently promoted clubs won two of these early blowouts, one might say the opposite. At the same time, Chelsea scoring 27 in their last four matches could be worrying. However, since I'll be at Stamford Bridge this Saturday it will be 27 in their last five.

What a great result today for Wigan. After getting hammered 6-0 and 4-0 at home, you go away to Spurs and collect all 3 points.

I wonder what the excuses will be this time round?

Smalling has been very good for United today in the 15 minutes he has been, with Rio permanently injured I think Smalling could get a few more starts this season

looks like a solid prospect

No excuses. They deserved the win. Outside of the first game against Man City, Spurs have been pretty unimpressive so far.

ya they didn't deserve to win today, based on the run of play they didn't really deserve to lose either

but Wigan parked the bus and Spurs couldn't get through

While true, I wouldn't say that Spurs didn't deserve to lose, Wigan had several beautiful chances that they squandered.

And yeah, they parked the bus, but if you're a team whose entire goal is to avoid relegation and you've got a 1-0 lead at WHL you park the team coach in front of the net. Astute moves from the Wigan coach as well.

As I've related to rubecube, this Spurs team is right back to midtable without an elite striker and some support for King. King had a spectacular game today, take him out and Spurs lose embarrassingly.

Not to mention, based on what I've heard I don't know how heavily they can keep leaning on Defoe.

It was an entertaining match though. Great fun to watch.

with the way they dominated Man City (outside of Joe Hart) I wouldn't say they are back to mid table, the problems defensively came when they started pushing 2 of the defenders up higher (especially Bale) and Wigan got chances

I have no problem with Wigan parking the bus, I was just pointing out that they did and it couldn't be broken down it was a problem Spurs had last season as well with Wolves and Hull

They need to bring in a striker if they want to keep up with the other top 5 or 6 teams, there are no doubts about that

I don't see any problems at CB though with Gallas brought in, King/Dawson/Gallas/Bassong is a good foursome. Dawson having a bad game at young boys doesn't erase the great season he had last year, I didn't think any of the defenders were bad today except BAE

Big win today over Man City, won't be able to see it until 5 when it's on repeat but nice to see a 90th minute penalty given our way for once!
