I understand everyones fear of a bad ending, but with a show like this, what kind of ending would be good and satisfying? I think that's nearly impossible no matter how you look at it, for everyone. I think the fact that the ending will be the ending is the biggest problem. People like the mystery and storyline, the wondering what's happening, the allure of what's coming next. When all that is over, it will be a major disappointment because there will be no more of what we all love left.
Last nights show was great, they've been doing a lot of temple, people coming and going for a while now. At least next show will have to be something different.
I'm all over Ben. He's been my "John" for you guys. He tries to be confident and all knowing, but is really confused and weak inside. I really am drawn by his character, I need to see more!
I do think that John was surprised to see Kate alive though. Looked like he thought she'd be dead until he saw her and wondered why smokie didn't get her. Just an interesting tid bit I noticed.
I'm a bit worried it's going down the "I'm the Devil, I'll fulfill your wildest dreams" road with smokey (non-Locke) and a soon to be resurrected Jeebus (Jacob) road. Time will tell, I hope that isn't what they go for though.
This is exactly how i see it going down. It seems like the whole series is going to be one big Jesus/Anti-Christ lesson.
That episode was disappointing. I was expecting real answers. And for the love of god, Kate has to be the stupidest character i have ever seen in any tv show/movie/real life. She makes me not want to watch the show.
Still nothing about why Aaron kept appearing in the jungle (i assume that boy was Aaron?).

As much as its pointing to a jesus (especially if Jacob is resurected) vs Satan story line, they've been pretty clear that smokey is merely a man trapped on the Island.
I have my doubts about the man fact unless he and Jacob were selected by the last guardian's of the Island
To be honest, the splitting of the timeline is boring as hell especially the non crash time line.
We knew that Sayid had bloodied his hands before, but he went outright dark in a hurry, but again its shades of Grey because the people in the temple were not exactly lilly white in this, they lied and decieved most of the major players. Maybe the Locke/creature is actually the "Good" guy in all of this and Jacob is evil.
Interesting that we haven't seen much of Sawyer, and except for a brief jungle warning Richard is missing, and Ben has been a fairly minor character for a lot of this season.
I will admit dirty angry evil claire is hot.

Enough of Kate, her character is getting more annoying by the episode. Thought Smokey (John) was going to take her out at the very end there, looked like he was thinking about it anyhow.
Not thrilled with last night's episode. Not sure what I was expecting, but don't like where they're taking the story line.
Interesting theory I just read on lostpedia, that Jacob and Nemesis (fake Locke) are two sides of one person (entity) - one that believes in free will (Jacob) and the other in destiny. That's why the name of Nemesis was never revealed - because it's Jacob too.

I am sure that is part of the theme of the show; everyone has a light side and a dark side; however, Jacob is dead. If it's one person, Smokey should be dead, too. Not to mention Ben was in the same room as the both of them, and Smokey kicked Jacob's body into the fire.
I think it's pretty clear they're separate entities, but they represent two sides of the same coin.

Locke: The guy that was sitting with Jacob on the beach saying he is going to come kill him aka the bad guy
Sayid/Claire: His henchman/righthand man
Jack: The islands chosen new Jacob
Hurley: Jacks/The islands right hand man
The survivors will eventually kill Sayid and Claire and it will end up being a battle of the island. Classic Jack Vs. Locke, Jack will win, and thus be the "New" Jacob. Another plane crashes in the final scene.
I had a really awesome and long post written up when Toskala was traded and the server died so I'll try to summarize.
The Flash Sideways' may be what their lives would have been like had Jacob not influenced them or even how their lives would be if man in Locke influenced them instead. They each have what they most desire but it's not quite how they thought it would be.
Jack wanted to redeem himself with his father but instead, he gets over it by redeeming his feelings with his own son.
Locke wanted to be with Helen and have a good relationship with his father but he's still stuck in his chair.
Kate wanted to be free but must live on the run.
Sayid wanted Nadia alive but she is married to Omar.
Some things we've quickly seen:
Dogan wanted to be with his son.
Next week we will find out more about Ben!

See, but the theory is that it's not really about dark/light side, it's about whether you believe in choosing your destiny, or in what's done is done - everything is set in stone. Bad/good is often in the eye of beholder.
One more thing, can Claire be "dead/brought back to life" too, just like Sayid is? In Season 4 when she lived at the Barracks, her house blew up and Sawyer found her inside with only a mild headache. Eh? Maybe a part of her died (just like part of Sayid died when he drowned) and that's why she's been acting all weird.
transcript from that episode:
SAWYER: You all right, sweetheart?
CLAIRE: Yeah, a bit wobbly, but, uh, I'll live.
MILES: Well, I wouldn't be too sure about that.
That night she "wakes up" and sees Christian (her dad) holding Aaron. Next morning she's gone missing, leaving Aaron behind.

A third of the way into this episode and it's already caught my attention more then most episodes this season have too. A lot of revelations and still a lot of show to go
Tonight was a bit of a letdown to me. Richard being what I thought was kinda meh, I guess the Linus part was cool. They are "answering questions" but it only seems to be the obvious ones. Oh well, here's to next week!
Well I, for one, thought it was a terrific episode tonight. Richard is revealed to be who people expected. Jack's faith is confirmed. Ben with the redemption. And Alex...lookin' good.
Its interesting that Jacob's interference has made everyones lives worse
In the real world
Jack redeems himself
John redeems himself
Ben doesn't sacrifice his daughter for power
Hugo has good luck and is able to help others
Syed's life is about the same
Kate and Claire we don't know enough about the make the decision yet
We also don't know how Gin turns out.
Temple dude dead vs. Raising his son
So thus far the destiny route that Jacob represents has not been good for the people invovled.
