There is really no point in replying to this, because nothing is going to change your views/morals.
Local, privately owned stores do survive off local business. If no one shopped at them, they wouldn't last. Same with big department stores. If no one shopped at them, they wouldn't survive.
Here is what you are doing to them though. Adding traffic through them making them appear busy. Taking sales associates & dressing room time away from actual customers. They have to build more change rooms to handle the demand, and they also have to hire and pay sales associates to handle the demand. All costs money. I'm sure you and everyone like you also puts everything back, exactly how it was so the sales associates don't have to.

Also with your $320 true religion jeans.
[tangent]Do you work for them or something? you seem to bring them up quite a bit in this thread. You're the only person I know who claims to like jeans and still considers them to be quality. [end tangent]
You bought them for $200 with what I'm assuming is a $50 coupon that you receive. Or did you use one of your 30% ones?
So you either actually bought them for $250 or $296...
I agree that the $70 difference is a lot. Still is quite the exaggeration from the $230 you originally stated.

Because some customers like to get their goods immediately. Look at book stores. The same book at Chapters is more expensive in store then it is online. Are you ripping off Chapters if you shop in store but then buy online? No, because they're taking advantage of customers who want their books NOW.

Cry me a river! No one is talking about local privately owned stores. They're talking about big chains that gauge customers because they have little to no local competition.

These stores aren't adding biggest dressing rooms because of the influx of window shoppers. That's ridiculous. They don't hire more associates either.

What would happen if no one shopped at these stores at their current prices is that they would lower their prices until they were competitive with online retailers. Then the business would return.

1st off i bring True religion up because its a name brand that most people are familiar with .... I believe True Religion is quality denim , like i said in previous posts i have had a pair for 3 or 4 years that still look great albeit a lil big for me its still quality denim.... secondly they point isnt whether or not i used a coupon or an online deal or not ... i still only paid 199 or 250 CDN compared to 318USD/398.75CDN....... do you think the online stores arent making money selling them at 199 even with a coupon? I know it does not cost a large retail outlet 118 usd/148cdn to have an hourly associate to show me where a dressing room is and fold the jeans that i dont buy....... i dont understand where you dont see that these stores gouge people in every which way ...

There is a local store here in Oklahoma that sells these brands and i have become friendly with the owner since i have been going there. I was talking to her a few weeks ago when they had their Spring Sale and she as giving me a hard time cause i bought a Diesel Tshirt on sale for 12.99.... She said you need to buy these sooner i am only make 3 bucks off this. Well they sold for 59.99 originally and she bought these tshirts for 10 bucks a piece..... She said thats the way it is in the clothing business and brick and mortar stores can keep charging it until people stop buying it ....

Oh and no i do not work for True Religion

You wear those on the weekend? If they were mine I'd save them for special occasions, like weddings and funerals.

I wonder if some of you "fanatics" can help me find a pair I like. I have always just worn Tommy Hilfiger jeans, but want something decent. The problem I have, is these damn low-rise jeans. I can't stand them. So uncomfortable. I am willing to spend upwards of 200 dollars on a good pair. I also don't want anything on the back pocket...basically nothing too flashy. Just a good, normal pair of normal rise jeans. Any recommendations?

APC New Standards. No back pocket design or any kind of flashy tag on the back.

I picked mine up at gravity pope tailored goods in edmonton which is just off white ave. Yeah the store is kinda pretentious, but go try a pair on. You can check out http://www.contextclothing.com/item.php?id=6 for the measurements, as I'm not sure what you would consider low rise. Keep in mind to these are raw denim.

Well put it this way, I want to wear jeans above my hips, not sitting on them or below them like what seems to be the most common thing these days. Everything I try on, I try to hike up too high and then they don't fit properly at all.

I might go check that store out. Do they have a lot of different brands there as well?

Uhh not to sure pretty sure they carry Nudie but other than that i'm not sure. Alot of their stuff is way outta my price range though (ie 200$ raf simmons/fred perry polos).

EDIT: www.gravitypope.com

Comfort wise, really, True Religions are friggin awesome... but I know some people don't like the back pockets so you might have an issue with that... but if your most important quality is comfort, get a pair of Trues! Billy Big Ts!

the back pocket flaps are a cut called Taylor, its just bootcut with flaps. The regular bootcut is henlee and floyd is a relaxed bootcut..... recession collections is just a lower quality of denim with boreing washes IMO... There are a couple good recession washes but everything else seems quite plain in the wash department....If you guys go to the states any time soon look for a store called nordstrom rack. Its Irregular jeans ( a couple frays, a messed up button etc) or old stock. Most of their rocks, True Religion, William Rast etc are from 89.99-129.99 .....

Winners freakin' rules. Got a pair of Buffalo "Black" a little while ago for $40 (regular retail is around $160 or so). Comfiest jeans I've ever owned.

Which Winners did you go to? The only one I know of is in Northland mall and I think Deerfoot Mall.

That is a smokin' deal.
