My last dman will be C64. His hair and presence during the 03/04 playoffs were legendary.
Mike Commadore, for those who didn't get the reference.

There were definitely some worthy players to take the last spot, but their careers as Flames were not very impressive. After hours and hours of mulling between Clarke Wilm and Jesper Mattson, Channels 2&7 Loves You has come to a decision.
With the 57th pick in the CP All-Time Flames Draft, Channels 2&7 Loves You selects, Doug Risebrough.
Perhaps a bigger career with the Habs and probably more infamous for his GM and coaching duties as a Flame, but a spot in the Flames' Best Of is deserved nonetheless.

to fill out our D core, he was one of my favorite players during the dreaded young guns era, bringing a veteran presence to the blue line as well as stanley cup experience from his time in New Jersey
Defenceman: Tommy Albelin

With our final pick, Team a-ring-a-ding-dong-dandy selects
Frank Musil at defense.

I love the story about him defecting to America
Quote:
František Musil (born December 17, 1964 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia), known mostly as Frank Musil, is a former professional ice hockey defenceman and a current scout for the Edmonton Oilers and coach assistant for Czech national ice hockey team.
Musil was selected in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, 38th overall, by the Minnesota North Stars. He played on 1985 Gold Medal winning IIHF Men's World Championships for Czechoslovakia. In addition to playing in various professional European leagues, Musil played 797 games in the NHL, for Minnesota as well as the Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers.
Musil's draft position fell, but not because of talent, as there was some uncertainty whether he would be able to escape Czechoslovakia, then a Communist country. Musil obtained a holiday visa and travelled to Yugoslavia with his girlfriend. Leaving her at the resort, Musil met with Minnesota General Manager Lou Nanne and player agent Ritch Winter, who had arranged for an American work visa. Winter and Nanne used the work visa to fool the border guards, who were unaware that Musil was a defecting hockey star. Thus, in the summer of 1986, Musil arrived in Minnesota, and began his NHL career that fall.
Musil retired from hockey at the end of the 2000/01 season, and was hired by the Oilers as a scout. Musil is married to former professional tennis player Andrea Holikova, who is also the sister of NHL forward Bobby Holik.

Well well, no suprise I have to take a goalie. I had thought to decide between Riggin and Edwards; but then with the awesome team in front of him I could take Trefilov or Roloson and have success.
Then I thought I would take the only player from Hungary in the draft, but he never did see a shot.
So with all the confidence of the 5 in front of him, I will take Matt Keetley.
The only Flame goalie in history to have a save percentage of 1.000.
Lowest GAA of any Flame in history as well.
Still has a solid future ahead of him, though it may be hard to continue the great success he has had so far.
Games Played: 1
Goals Against: 0
Goals Against Average: 0.00
Shots: 2
Save percentage: 100%

lol
nice reasoning for 20 minutes played (edit*** for some reason I remember him playing the whole third period, apparently it was only 9 minutes)
up next the greatest 39 second flame ever! (I actually have a Brennan Evans autograph on my Denis Gauthier jersey ...along with Gauthier and Commodore)

So who else would play with Keetley and Evans on the all time shortest Flame tenure team??
No cheating by looking it up, has to be from memory. Has to have played at least one second.....

How about Gord Hampson (?). I remember him coming up as a tough guy in the 80's but getting jaw broken by cement head in his first(?) game.
Could be a forward on the lowest tenure team.

Tim Ramholt could join Evans on the blue line, he only played one game for the flames, and it very well may have just been a single shift as well, because he certainly didnt play long, and I think he was also a minus

Nice pick with Keetley
Well, 6 rounds and 60 picks and not a single AK... well done!
I'll provide an update later tonight or more likely tomorrow AM... thanks for participating! Next up is the supplemental draft, voting for the winner and/or a simulated playoff bracket. Details TBA!

Nice one, how could I forget such a recent one! If memory serves, he played 49 seconds.
So...
G Keetley
D Evans
D Ramholt
F Hampson
F
F
Who was the minor league tough guy we had 2-3 years ago, who fought Laraque once? I think that was a regular season game.
What about Borchevsky? He didn't play much. Simard?

Don't forget Jarrod Skalde:
1 game for the Flames
1 game for the Stars
1 game for the Flyers
I think he played for some other NHL teams but 1 game played for 3 different teams is a funny stat I remember.

another forward that would fit the bill is Warren Peters
he's only played one game so far, but of course, hes still in the organization so that could increase, and most likely sooner than it would for keetley

Done then.
The all time least tenure Flames team:
F: Jarrod Skalde
F: Warren Peters
F: Gord Hampson
D: Tim Ramholt
D: Brennan Evans
G: Matt Keetley
Alternate: Sutter
Have to remember who that tough guy was who may have played less...can't believe I can't remember his name.

Okay, here's an update:
Supplemental "Draft" for Free Agents
Although we've done 6 rounds of drafting and now have our starting 6, I'd also like to do a supplemental "draft", where each team can select up to 3 additional players to add depth to the rosters. Grit, toughness, leadership -- whatever. These picks won't be used for "judging" purposes, so feel free to pick your favorite and/or most obscure Flame still available.
Instead of subjecting everyone to an additional 3 rounds of drafting, I thought we would do this "first come, first served" like when free agent season opens. I propose the rules as follows: - The supplemental draft / free agent season starts on a specific time/day, for instance, this Monday at 12:00 noon CP time. At this time, the first person to "sign" the free agent gets that player.
- You are only allowed to sign one free agent at a time. After the Monday/12:00 signing period opens and people make their picks, there will be a 1/3/5/8/24? hour waiting period before the next round of signings take place. The next signing period will be announced, at which time the process starts all over again at the new date and time (we'll do this twice so that you end up with 3 free agents).
- If you pick a player and someone else has already signed them, you have to make a new post and sign another player (don't just edit your old post because that buggers up the order, even if there is a timestamp). The order of posts on the thread will determine who posted first.
- If you make your pick early (i.e. at 11:59), the pick is disqualified and the person is subject to a 10 minute penalty before they can sign another player.
Any thoughts? suggestions? We'll have to agree what time/day to start, and how long the waiting period will be between picks (1 hour if you want to get it all done in a day, 24 hours if you want to spread it out over 3 days).
Also, if you don't want to participate in the supplemental "draft", you don't have to. Or if you don't feel compelled to sit at your computer, constantly refreshing the screen in order to be the first one to make a pick at 12:00, then make your pick whenever you feel like after 12:00. But secretly we will all be judging you because we'll have << insert obscure Flames player here >> and you won't )

Sounds great tvp!
Monday at 12:00pm works for me, or whenever. I like the 24 hour waiting period too.
I'll be there like the NY Rangers...

Works for me TVP - and if it has to happen during the work week then noon is the best time for it to happen at for me.
