I don't think it's an actual joke. Just another way of hiding Lily's pregnancy other than having her in the booth, holding a huge bag, holding a sweater or Marshall's pants.
Surprised there is no Mosbius Designs website.

Yeah i think she might have left to give birth hence why she wasnt in this episode. Looks like Colbie Smulders is pregnant too

Hannigan gave birth three weeks ago.
I don't know what the usual lead time is between an episode being shot and when it airs, but I'm sure the fact that we won't see her for "4 weeks" coincides with her very brief maternity leave, and she should be back in time for the season finale.
Smulders will probably have her kid after the season finishes shooting, but her belly was not very well disguised on this week's episode. Presumably, it will only keep getting bigger during the rest of the season's episodes and she'll spend most of the time behind her news desk, or other conveniently-placed props.

Yeah, they could have, but they obviously didn't want to take the show in that direction at this point.
That would pretty much spell the end to Marshall and Lilly hanging out at the bar with the gang, which is a pretty big part of the show.
