Took about 20 minutes. And yeah, the Hitmen helped with the Bears, the Wheat Kings went to the dressing room and sulked.
Hitmen lost for the first time in over a month last night, but still picked up a point, falling 5-4 in a shootout to Spokane.

Last night was a well fought battle. Spokane got outplayed on all accounts except the shootout. The Hitmen's blueliners were excellent @ keeping the puck in the zone and out-hustling the Spokane forwards.

Sounded like a good game, I'm a bit bummed that we don't get to see Spoke 'til Feb. 24th and Calgary until early March though..
Giants beat Regina last night (didn't go), have 2 losses now after losing in Kennewick over the weekend. Saskatoon and Chilliwack this weekend, WK you comin' out on Sunday?

Hitmen back on the winning track with an easy victory over Portland. Now 12-0-0-1 in our last 13.
Sonne continues to lead the league in scoring with 48 points, while Kozun is second with 44. Jones now leads the league in GAA at 2.02.
And we're now ranked 2nd in the country!
However, Lethbridge has finally figured out what they are doing. 5 wins in a row, and they are flying up the Central standings.

Not that these ranking matter at all but how is Calgary ranked ahead of Vancouver? That hasn't made sense to me all season long.

They have been hot lately but those wins have come against the bottom teams in the league- Edm, RD, PA, MJ. Hopefully, they will continue their solid play once the competition picks up but I still have a wait and see attitude before believing that they have finally turned it around.

True, but it is a good time to build confidence, which would carry them against tougher competion. And no, I have no idea how we are ranked ahead of Vancouver.
Anyway, Tri-Cities finally beat us last night, 4-1. Looking to start a new winning streak tonight against Seattle, in a 3rd in 3 nights/4 in five nights set. ouch.
Karl Alzner scored his first NHL goal last night.

The Hitmen got right back in the win column last night with a 4-1 win in Seattle. One more game vs the Silver Tips on this US road trip.

Giants destroyed Saskatoon on the weekend.. to their credit, the Blades looked tired, but they were out of the game 5 mins in. Kinda disappointing that they couldn't even draw 10k for Teddy Bear Toss night though.

He's working on repeating that too. A hat trick and an assist in a 4-0 win last night in Everett. He's starting to pull away in the scoring race. 55 points now, seven up on Kozun who's in second.
3-1-1 through the US division is very impressive. 14 up on Medicine Hat now.

Last night he got a natural hat trick AND a Gordie Howe hat trick. that's gotta be pretty unheard of.

Little off-ice tidbit, Michael Buble has apparently bought a minority stake in the Giants. Team is of course still (primarily) owned by Ron Toigo of White Spot fame.

Hitmen beat the Bruins 3-1 tonight with Michael Snider in goal. 11 straight home wins now for the Hitmen. They host the Rockets tomorrow afternoon.

Feel bad for the Bruins. The effort they put in last night should win about nine times in ten. They were all over the place and really forced the Hitmen to earn the W.
I have no idea what the Hitmen were thinking scheduling today's game for 2:00, when we played last night and Kelowna hasn't.

Hitmen win their 12th straight at home this afternoon vs the Rockets (4-3). Nice to see a big crowd, over 10,000, at the Dome.

I know it was the skate with the Hitmen promo, but 10,000 in this weather is very impressive.
The third period was nothing more than a desperate attempt at hanging on, as the fatigue flat out got to the team. Kelowna poured on a ton of pressure, but the D held firm. Good to see.

Five in a row! Came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat Saskatoon 6-4 last night to move 12 up on the Blades for first in the East.
Hitmen face a trap game tonight though. Facing the second worst team in the league in their last game before the xmas break. Hopefully they can leave PA with a six game winning streak.
Former Hitman Ian Duval was named the player of the week, and Brett Sonne is playing for Team Canada!

And Calgary goes into the break with an 8-4 win, with eight different goal scorers tonight.
31-5-2 thus far, not bad.

I was @ the Blades/Hitman game on Tuesday, and while the Hitmen played well, and showed that they can quickly capitalize on mistakes, the Blades had this game for the most part until the refs made a couple of really bad calls (or rather non calls on Holtby getting run), resulting in a Hitman pp...which resulted in a goal, then a bench penalty from the Blades after the goal, then another goal within a minute. Holtby was rattled after that.
I did like the Blades take on the pre Christmas toss. They didn't have people throw teddy bears, but instead touques, gloves and scarves to help people out. Even sold touques 2/$5 if you didn't bring one. I figure that this is a whole lot better than throwing stuffed animals.

Justin Pogge is set to become the 23rd former Hitman to play in the NHL. He's been recalled by the Leafs, and will start tonight.
http://www.fromtherink.com/2008/12/2...-turn-to-pogge
Now, do I cheer for him since he is a former Hitman, or do I cheer against him because he is a current Leaf?
