Try reading in bed. I find that it takes my mind off things just long enough to fall asleep.

Don't read anything stimulating though. I typically will take my French book to bed and conjugate verbs or study vocabulary. I'm not even that interested in learning the language any more, but it puts me to sleep in less than 15 minutes.

I use audio books, I find it's easier to shut my brain down when its focused on one thing (the book) rather than 10 things (like normal).

And most books work for me, only the most engaging books usually will actually keep me awake, and I have a couple of books reserved for putting me to sleep. Topics I'm interested enough in to want to listen to them, but the books are boring enough or bad enough they put me to sleep almost every time.

White noise works well too.

I had insomnia for 3 years, nearly OD'd on sleeping pills...I didn't smoke weed regularly till I was 23...Can't say I have had a problem falling asleep since I started smoking half hour to hour before I was going to get into bed to try and pass out. Obviously if you have elevated levels of stress or anxiety its going to make it hard to sleep regardless of what you do.

I started doing yoga, and working out regularly, eating healthy is extremely important too. I'll never go near a sleeping pill again. Yay 420
