This is an interesting article about Twitter, and it gives me pause to consider what Twitter could be, if one were to use it beyond inane babble and endless self admiration, and instead as a window into other cultures, lifestyles, experiences, and daily rhythms:

I l have grown to love twitter, although I rarely tweet. I always want think that I should start more and then just don't.

I don't think anyone cares what I have to say on twitter but it's become my go-to source for pretty much anything I care about: hockey, Flames stuff, local news, law stuff. I have to laugh when I get "breaking news" alerts on email or when they flash across the tv screen. If you were on twitter, you probably saw that same breaking news a while ago.

I got into this to follow updates of city council meetings (nerd!) and eventually started using it more and more. I rant sometimes, and usually tweet or retweet interesting aircraft coming into YYC, plus my photos that I take:

Exactly what I use it for (at least sports-wise). In 2 years of being on Twitter I've still yet to make a tweet and probably never will, but in that same time it's morphed from me trashing the site (and just simply not understanding it) on here 2 years ago to it being almost the first thing I check when I log on (can't come here first because I tend to "get stuck" for awhile when I do). And as a Saints fan, having Twitter open during games to get almost to-the-second updates by their beat reporter Jeff Duncan is a gameday go-to for me now.
Speaking of which, is there any good, reliable (constantly tweets updates, and especially active on game days) Flames beat reporters on Twitter I should know about? I've got my NFL news covered on there but pretty much nothing hockey-wise.

twitter is one of the best information exchange technology in a long time, it will just take more time for people to understand them going to the store is not important.
I use it mostly for local news,MMA stuff and motorcycle news
