I was about to say, I am gonna miss Sal (and more importantly his loveable stasche).

I was cruising TSN today and noticed Eric Bedard is having some troubles in Baltimore. He is going into salry arbitration, but expects to be traded. Can the Jays make a deal for another great Canadian? http://www.tsn.ca/ctvnews/sportsstor...tory_id=228262

In a baseball sense, another arm for that rotation would go a long way towards a playoff birth.

In a business sense, a potential all star Canadian would definitely help fill the seats in Ted's house (on days other than toonie tuesdays).

Bedard is Baltimore's top player, and will command a King's Ransom in return. Baltimore is also VERY reluctant to trade within the AL East.

The Jays chances of getting Johan Santana are probably better than getting Bedard.

Yeah, Baltimore will want about 3 really good young players for Bedard. I don't think the Jays are going to have the right pieces to make a move for him.

The jays should have an ok staff IF it can stay healthy. The Jays are light on good young players so I'd hate to see them sell the farm for him.

I'd like to see if the bottom end of the staff can develop, if they can, and IF the vets can stay healthy (I know, big if) then they'd have a very good staff and can compete for the WC.

Looks like B.J. Ryan is expected to report with the rest of the pitchers to Dunedin and he may be ready for opening day.

So he actually got less ($4.385 M) then what Toronto countered with if they had gone to arbitration? Nice.

Wonder if it has to do with the fact that he got a 3.5m signing bonus so he got most of the money up front.

Zaun Breaks Silence Over Mitchell Report
http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/news...=.jsp&c_id=tor

Good to hear, I believe him. Either way, $500 seems like a stupid small amount to buy when guys are going through $35000 over 4 year periods. Zauny appears to be a victim of being moved around a lot, having lots of guys know his name, and still having a job (active players will get you out of more trouble to name than guys that got cut- according to Zaun).

What do you guys think?

I think he's lying, as per the mitchell thread, but his arm to 2nd is proof that he hasn't taken anything.

Nice one. couldn't be more succint than that. Did he use the same defence? He should pay you for your legal insight.

Jays signed Shannon Stewart to a minor league deal.

Not a bad move I guess, although we already have our backup 1B/OF in Adam Lind toiling in the minors.

I see this as more of a direct competition between Stewart and Johnson

If stewart can do well enough in spring training then Johnson might be on his way out. Won't hurt Lind to spend one more year in AAA

Stewart can hit, when healthy..which is rare. His defense and arm can't hold a candle to Reed's. I'd like to see Stewart as a bat off the bench though.

Barajas, McDonald, Scutaro,Stewart & Stairs is a pretty damn good bench. This will definitely be the strongest group JP Ricciardi has assembled in his time as GM. Yet another positive for this team, this years team really seems to have alot of potential to do great things. A very solid roster from top to bottom.

Can't wait.
