1) Any idea if there are demerits for this and how many?
2) Can I get the fine or demerits reduced for this at the First Appearance Centre or is it only for speeding tickets?

1) Yes, and I am not sure.
2) Yes, I have done it.

He was making an observation about the officer, deal with it.

Unless you can prove to the judge that the law has been brought into disrepute before the court, you may as well pay up. If your rights under the Canadian Charter have been violated, you have a case...a missing postal code on the ticket isn't a violation of your rights.

What you talking about Willis?
Where did he mention a postal code? Or were you replying to one of the other 140 posts somewhere in this long thread.

One of my favorite CP-isms is when an old thread gets bumped, and a poster doesn't realize it, and responds to the original post.
Bonus points if the poster is really mad about something said months or years ago, and goes off on a tangent, and tries to argue with a poster that either no longer posts here, or hasn't longed on in awhile, and that poster gets more and more frustrated with the lack of response.

He brought it up. He mentioned it, probably as a reason why he shouldn't be getting a ticket. If a cop can do it, so can I!

Nope, he was just stating that it was annoying to see a cop do the same thing that he was just ticketed for.
His only questions were "how many demerits will I get?", and "can he get them reduced by appearing?".
...and quite frankly, it would piss me right off to see a cop blatantly do what he just gave me a ticket for, right in front of me.

Why? They're allowed to break the law. Maybe he was responding to a call in that direction?

Okay, I'll use what if's, since we don't know what happend, and can't say if that cop had an emergancy or not.
IF a cop pulls a u-turn because it's conveniant, and does so right in front of a driver that he just gave a ticket to for this infraction, then that is in poor form, imo.
Sure, we can say that "he's a cop, deal with it", but one of the goals of any police force is to gain the trust and approval of the citizens of the city they police in. It creates a better city when there is unity between the police and the majority of the citizens.
Yes, they can piss off anyone and not get in trouble for it, but if enough cops do this, then it starts to reflect in the general public.

Thanks for the feedback on the First Appearance Centre. I didn't want to go down there and find out that it couldn't be reduced because it a relatively low fine to start with or some other reason related to u-turns.
FYI, cop was not responding to an emergency after he left me. He flashed his lights for a couple of seconds as he pulled the u-turn (the one after he left me). I drove behind him for about 5 minutes after and he was not in a rush to get anywhere.
I am not disputing that he was within his rights to give me the ticket, just added that comment because it felt like a slap in the face for him to do the exact same thing later. That's when I lost respect for him.
